Old dog falls in love

Basenji Talk
  • She keeps doing this tail flicking on him. It seems she can control her tail. She reverse stands next him buts against his body, flicking her tail on him. The tail only goes toward him. It's the weirdest thing. I did not know they had control of their tails like that. Granted she's not going to pick up something with it, but you do not see basenjis doing a lot with them, most of the time.

  • Love the photos of them together, he is a very handsome boy. Like you, I was not fond of the black basenjis. In fact, when Topper was offered to me I hesitated because he was black and white, and I loved the red ones. Within just a few hours I was smitten and thought he was the most elegant, striking basenji ever, he was my suave gentleman. Your girl has great taste!

  • Oh my goodness, I do not know how I didn't see this thread before! (I hit new posts so strange!) What a wonderful LOVE story and pictures. Thank you for sharing and starting my day with such delight! :)

I have had a couple stained glass made, but there is normally a 3-4 month lead time as the artists are already booked up for Xmas this yr. Most of the artists on etsy will be booked this late in the yr, I had two quilts and a needle felt made a couple yrs ago and I placed my order in June in order to guarantee Xmas delivery. If you have a nice photo, there is a company called treasure knits that does wonderful woven afghans out of a photo with about a one week turn around. I have had both afghans and pillows made from photos as xmas gifts from them and they do great work.

I think Buona said it best… "I think most of the other people need therapy.. Therapy from the BEST doctors in the world... --> B's"

Thanks Humanoid. I L'dMAO. Great idea with the home made wood bed. I still can't praise the Duluth Trading Company beds enough. Katie proof (a bed digger), and Tyler proof (exposed stuffing of any kind is fair game). 6 years and the bed is still in use. Washable outside and re-stuffable inside pillow (inside only replaced once due to a basenji/skunk incident) After 5 or 6 dog beds, this one is a keeper for me.

Owning a basenji requires a good sense of humor and a large dose of patience and a willingness to do some creative thinking to convince the basenjis what you want is really the same thing as what they want. So true, never a dull moment with these dogs

We take our kids as many places as we can… hiking swimming running/jogging- nature trails parks doggie events (like ours!! www.firstgiving.org/bdawg) I've taken Lexi to do lure coursing a few years ago- it was fun, but she wasn't as in to it as I thought she might be; our dobie was FAR superior! lol
