Good place to board?

    I'm going to be traveling for work for 3 days next week and need someone to help take care of her…I can bring her to the hotel but I would only be able to come back during lunch during the work day...I called one place (recommended by my vet)...and they said she gets 3 walks about 15-20min long but other than that...she'll be in a kennel...is it good for her to be in a kennel for long periods of time? She's only 13 weeks

    Can you get a dog sitter? I have dog walkers who also do overnight visits, and they are great! When I have to be away, someone is here with my guy all night, he gets a walk in the morning, someone is here at lunch time for an hour plus another walk, then if I am away more than one day she comes back at 4 p.m., walks him again, and stays overnight. Works great. Maybe someone in your area does something similar??

    We just got back from 5 days in Maui. Had to put our Laika in a kennel which we found after a long search. It was not easy to leave her there, she did ok we think. But was so glad to see us. We really hated to do this as we adopted her from a kennel 6 month ago. All our travel will now be by car only so we can take her. My husband had to pat everydog he saw in Maui. She is his baby.     I just boarded Tiggy and Reggie for one night, Reggie has been boarded before and Tiggy and him were in the same suite. They both did great and they had no problems and had no issues noted on their cards.

    OMG….this film was the catalyst that started my daughter on her quest for a Basenji. For years and years I had to endure the Walter Brennan character saying, 'She's got birds. SHE'S GOT BIRDS'. I think that's why we finally caved and got our first B. We never wanted to see that movie again!!! In hind sight, the cheezy movie was MUCH easier to take than a Basenji pup. I'm looking for the book on line---just for my collection of B. ephemera.

    I had to board my basenji mix last christmas and it was probably the easy boarding of a dog I have done. I had only had Hollie about two weeks (I adopted her out of a shelter) and our attachment really started when I returned. However, I know my boarder as he is also a groomer who groomed my previous poodle mix. My boarder lives on site where his shop is and actually is the one who informed me that Hollie's other mix besides the whippet she was listed as at the shelter, might be basenji. Boy, was he ever right. My boarder has a strong background in dogs and has showed various breeds with AKC. I think getting to know you boarder well is a good thing, you can feel at ease when leaving your furbaby.
