Distended/Bloated Stomach

Basenji Health Issues & Questions
  • I have a 13yr old basenji, who recently developed a distended/bloated stomach. We took him to vet and blood test and urine test were complete with no abnormalities. Vet would like to perform and ultrasound but hasn?t explained what she is looking for. Any thought on what it could be and questions I should ask vet? Thank you.

Yes, the test for Lyme disease is a blood test. It is a special test that is not in the regular panels– they usually run it separately, after they rule out other things. I hope your B is better! Did you find out what was wrong?

@wizard: Makes you wonder what the vet schools are teaching too! Indeed it does!

Thank you all so much for your posts, they truly helped me a lot. Being my first puppy, it is nice to be reaffirmed that she is just a puppy and that this is normal puppy behavior…. I will definitely continue with the training and try to be more consistent with my approaches. I truly did not think that this was aggression and I'm sorry for the misleading title post; I guess I was involving my own feelings as it has been a little frustrating to say the least. I see how the other puppies are in puppy class, and then there is little Kaya running around barking/yodeling for the entire hour - She is a little diva. Thanks again, and I look forward to continued interactions in this forum!

Treating heartworm infected dogs.. http://www.veterinarypartner.com/Content.plx?A=610 No offense intended, but the Beloved Bulldogs site was not written by a vet and seems a bit dated to me. Having had a dog treated for heartworm years ago, believe me the arsenic treatments can be dangerous and painful. (See above link)

Well, your precious ones only have to have a rabies booster once every 3 years! Please tell all your friends in Wichita about the ordinance change – the newspaper buried the announcement in other animal-related information, I'm sure many pet owners in the city don't have a clue that they no longer have to booster every year.
