My girl started her first cycle…advice please!

  • @Walter:

I'm gonna get her the doggie diapers, less washing blankets and hilarious to see her wearing a diaper:) I too doubt the diapers will work well but what a sight.

Walter, we are going to want pictures! :D

  • My girls from two different lines came in twice a year the first couple of years-since then they have only had once per year. I know friends of mine have some of their girls in right now as well. It's a strange year with it being so cold and wet in the spring.

  • Hello All!

Well were in day 6 of her 1st season and things are going really well with the doggie diapers (to my surprise), she wears them without problem…I think perhaps the actual ones designed for dogs may work slightly better or she just doesn't mind. They may have a different shape to them that helps them stay on, the tail hole is in a perfect spot. She is very tired and quite loving. Her "girl parts" got quite big over the past few days and nipples have doubled in size (hope they go back down). Me and my GF can't wait for this to be over! Scarlett was born in September so I guess her mom (Therese and Kevin's Karma...dad was Sober) had to have a similar cycle.

Been busy but will try to post Scarlett diaper pics soon!

@elbrant No tizzy... but using someone by name has a tendency to make it sound like you mean them. It was funny, nothing big. I'm pretty sure you are good at saying what you mean and asking for clarification. I'm good with that. :)

Awesome.. Antlers are great, work hard on crate training because it's super important…I had an awful awful time with separation anxiety and it was horrendous to get through crate training but we have made great progress.

@Elysium: That's what I wanted to say :D Happy birthday from Germany, too! Cute, sharing the birthday with your dog ;) Yes, I like to tease Rebecca that is how I can remember her birthday – because it's Jazzy's birthday too. LOL Keoki turns 3 on the 17th. My pups are growing up on me!

@lvoss: Have you been counting days since she went in? Also, Walmart has $4 fleece throw blankets that you can use on your furniture for her to lay on as a compromise to britches. If you are really lucky you may be able to find them at Big Lots for as low as $2.50 I'd second what lvoss says about fleece - my pup is in heat as well although we're 10 days further in (Liyah started on the 8th) than you are :D. I found a bolt of fleece in Walmart's remnants section this week - cut 3 throws from it - actually thicker than the pre-made throws. The bolt cost 2.84 - quite a deal!

I too have flown with a pup in a Sherpa… one thing, be sure that they have a not been fed right before... and also the longer you can keep the pup awake, the more likely they will sleep the entire time. I kept the pup up and playing for at least 3 hours before the flight... and I do mean playing hard.. (I was pretty tired too...)I also did a 5+ hour flight, no accidents. But a friend of mine had a great idea... and it does work, take along some puppy wee/wee pads... you can go into the bathroom, put down the pad on the floor and let the little one go... however with as short of a flight you are doing, I doubt it will be necessary....
