Diarrhea in the Kennel

Basenji Health Issues & Questions
  • Our 1.5 year old Basenji, Meeko, has been kennel trained since the day we got him. Recently, we have been coming home to massive poo explosions after an 8 hour day at work. He's done it 3 times in the past month or so and has gotten a clean/negative stool sample result from the vet. We haven't changed his food, nor has he been eating any people food. He isn't getting into things he's not supposed to since he is in his crate. Anyone else having weird bowel issues? Thoughts on what could be causing this?

@zande said in Help - Kiya is having a diarrhea bout for months: wish we humans could get the same benefit from Vitamin B12 as an aside: Humans need all of the B Vitamins for B12 to work it's magic. B12 alone will not do the trick, I take a "Super B Complex" vitamin every day for exactly this reason!

@AJs: Wow. I guess AJ has a cast-iron stomach. He only gets loose when he gets ahold of something off the ground. Or if I mistakenly feed him pork. He eats Pinnacle with a little gravy or occasionally a raw egg. Hope your girl feels better soon. Not unusual for the girls to go off a bit when they are coming in season… least not in my experience But to answer Petra's question, I have not seen that it would really be an indication

@taryn121: I just switched Ripley from ProPlan to Evo yesterday, and he's had diarrhea last night and all today. I was wondering if that was normal because he had a food switch? And if it is, how long does it normally happen? I put a little plain yogurt in with his meal this morning and it seemed to help some. Is there anything else I can do? It is usually recommended that you change foods slowly… over the course of at least 2 to 3 weeks... increasing the new food with the old with each feeding.
