I'm moving to Northern California!

    … as soon as I can find a job, or my house sells - whichever comes first! Ondrej has switched positions and now has a job at UC Davis so I'm looking for work around Sacramento area or 1/2 hour radius.

    I think Tayda and Lenny will love the weather!

    I'm excited, but boy am I SICK of moving! I'm like Where's Waldo. My parents have lived in the same house for the last 32 years and I have moved 4 times in the last 2 years. Soon to be 5. I confuse them. Too bad I will have to leave my cushy CR job... I quite like it.

    So I will soon (hopefully) join the ranks of the NorCal B-owners! As things get closer I'll be putting feelers out there for good vet and pet sitter recommendations!

    If any Bforum members out there know of Mechanical Engineering positions or Medical Device positions in the Sacramento area - PM me!

    My husband works for UCD and we both graduated from UCD. I live in Woodland, which is an easy 10 minute commute to Davis and about 20 minutes to Sacramento. Feel free to email me if you have any questions about the area.

    Thanks Ivoss! Ondrej is renting a room in the Stonegate community right now in Davis, but when I get out there we'll look for a place of our own! He was looking in Woodland also, but this place in Stonegate let him sign a 3 month lease so that seemed to be better for the situation…

    One thing that surprised me is he said that there are bikers everywhere but no one wears helmets! Yikes! I don't ride 10 feet w/o my helmet!

    Most of the professors wear helmets but most of the students don't. Stonegate is nice, have had friends that rented there.

    Very cool! :) My ex-vet (now retired) graduated from UC Davis and she took very good care of my first B…

    Even though we're not close to the UC Davis area, hopefully we'll get a chance to meet - maybe some B meetup a little south of there at some future time... (Perhaps Tayda and Lenny can get Cosmo to yodel :p)

    On another note, it's Dungeness Crab season here so if Ondrej likes seafood, he should get some at the grocery store (it's a very sweet crab)... :D

    I've made a lot of trips around Sacramento. There are a lot of nice areas there. The climate is a lot more temperate than CT. Good luck in The Golden State!

    Chelsie-the B's don't get a chance to see them. The B's are in the front in a pen and the ducklings and chickens are in the back. After Shadow decided to help me butcher a chicken when we first moved in, I thought it prudent to keep them separated. They would definitely terrorize them. Yes, Robyn, I made the duck tractor. It has wheels on the one end so I can move it around. I do have a duck pen, and they will go in it when I fix the duck house. It seems rats, or something decided to make a meal of the one end and floor of the house. So, I have to fix that. I do really like it, but it won't be big enough in a couple of weeks for them. I will try to get more pics of the little monsters today. (And, the pen will work very well for one of the dogs if I ever need it!!) Yes, they grow very, very fast. If I can get a pic of them up and about, you will see how it's very hard to tell which one had the spraddle legs. The rouens are bigger than the muscoveys. There are three rouens and they have an eye stripe.     @Andrew: Thanks for the well wishes!! And Nicki & Robyn; y'all won't even notice I'm gone, especially when we're sitting on the beach drinking mai tais :) We're in Savannah now. I needed to come down to look at properties in person for renting. I brought Callie & Lola with me because I thought it would be easier just to have them than to arrange getting them to the breeder to keep them while I was out of town for only 1 night. Not many Savannah hotels allow dogs, so we ended up in a really posh hotel called The Mansion on Forsyth. The entire staff is very sweet to the girls, greets them and pets them. My heart broke open & fell on the floor when we met a 3 year old in a stroller in the lobby. She obviously has a dog at home, and was very happy to meet Callie & Lola. She grabbed Callie's face and smooshed it around, and although it wasn't painful to Callie, I'm sure it was annoying. She just sat there and let the girl love all over her, very patiently and sweetly. Lola even let the little girl pet her a little, which is a HUGE deal for Lola!! She is so scared of kids & usually growls & gets a little defensive & hides behind me. I've been working with her by making sure every little kid we meet gives her treats & she gets praise, so I was so happy to see Lola have a positive reaction to a child. We got into the room & Callie & Lola instantly jumped on the fluffy king size bed (Callie is currently building a nest in the pillows; always where she goes when we get in a hotel). Then they ran to investigate the window. We're on the ground floor looking onto a fairly busy sidewalk & road, with lots to see. The window is only 2 feet off the ground, with a ledge big enough for them to sit on. I jumped in the shower & when I got out 20 minutes later, they were both staring out the window, mesmerized with all the activity outdoors. We got in a good walk in the square across the street from our hotel, and they have been so patient with all the crate time they've logged today (5 hours in the car, plus several hours while I was looking at apartments and then again when i went out for dinner & drinks). Its supposed to rain tomorrow, but if it doesn't we may meet up with some Ibizan friends, or maybe go to dog friendly Fort Pulaski & a dog friendly restaurant (apparently Savannah is VERY dog friendly!!! Yay!) I'm so glad I brought them with me. They really make the trip that much better, rather than more stressful. I have stayed at the Mansion before it is really a funky boutique hotel for being in an old southern city like Savannah. So if your there, I guess we won't see you at lure coursing practice tomorrow.

    @Maya: If you're living in Holland, you need a Friesian!!! :D I have the most wonderful friesian, her temperment is amazing. She's not even 3 yet but she is just so sweet and gentle!! But, do keep us updated. I've had horses since i was 3 and they are a huge part of my life. I couldnt be without them even though im not as involved in the horse world as i once was!! P.S. I have some photos from a show over here in the UK with shires in their traditional plaits and tack if anyone is interested in seeing them. Its just amazing!! Yes!! I love to see the pictures!!! I like the Friesian horses but it's not a breed wich can used for lots of things, they are to special i think :D I like the Friesian for shows and as a barouche horse (is it a good word?) I once ride a Friesian and it's different with riding a normal or western horse. They make larger steps and it's very comfortable riding! A friend of us breeds the Friesian :D @moetmum: That sounds exciting, hope it all goes to plan. Our neighbouring farmer used to breed shire horses, they don't breed now but still have loads of horses. They go to loads of shows, they were sponsored by a local brewery. The horses are fascinated by the basenjis, and always want to come and have a look! the b's aren't keen when they snort at them though. I have never heard of a horse milking farm before!! Wow!!! If it was a little bit near Holland, I really would come over to met you and take a look at the shires next door :D:D We're don't going to live in Holland :D In Germany they have also some very nice breeds Hannoveraan, holsteiner (i don't know the english names…0
