@Ginny2244: I got to chat with Judge Nick today about the Wimama basenji pack. . He was the presiding judge at the Feb 11th hearing in Tampa, who granted custody to Hillsborough County Animal Shelter. Of course I thanked him for saving the basenjis, saying how wonderful that they would be turned over to BRAT. He spoke highly of BRAT, impressed that BRAT members were in attendance from not only Tampa but from around the country. Awesome ! Good to hear, thanks Ginny!

@sharronhurlbut: I have to make a correction. When I left home this am, I thought Andrea was going to go p/u the girl. Seems the shelter has found her a very nice foster home in the area. So, Andrea, didn't have to make the 7 hr drive to go get her. I will keep you updated on this girl as things happen. I can't tell you how much QUALITY breeders do to make things easier for rescue. I have a quality breeder in Wa who will not only take her own b's back, but will take in dogs with no connection to her line, if she has the room for them. This is what helps so very much. 14 hours! 7 there and 7 back. I'll stay in contact with the rescue, and if for any reason her foster home can't keep her any longer I'll make the trek and get the poor girl. After everything she's gone through, she deserves a soft place to land.

@AJs: I guess bird seed and fruit aren't Melody's cup of tea.:D But she keeps Gramma company when she's feeding her birds. That's helpful, isn't it? She sounds so darling. Kudos to you for your rescue efforts! I agree, there doesn't need to be any official structure or heirarchy to make a different for THAT dog! I've privately adopted out two dogs from bad situations. Got them neutered and found wonderful families for them who continue to adore them.
