Since Buster is a rescue, I would highly suggest that you have DNA Fanconi testing done. It is a cheek swab that you do yourself. You can order the test at www.offa.org for 65.00. Money well spent for peace of mind and know your Basenji's status. Scroll down till you get to Fanconi DNA

Welcome! Post pictures when you get a chance!

Yes, this my first Basenji and she came from a breeder here in Texas. I will post pictures as soon I figure out how everything works

We would love to hear more about your girl and her breeder.
Some of us are "related" by dogs..
Welcome. -
And if her sire and dam have not been and even if they were, you should consider have her DNA tested for Fanconi…. for your own piece of mind. You can search the forum for Fanconi and DNA testing for Fanconi or go to www.basenjihealth.org

Well… Akeyla is her name and she is a wonderful puppy! She sure acts like a puppy too! That is good and bad! She was born on Christmas 2008, so she is almost 5 months old, brindle is her color (but more red than brindle). I fell in love with her at 4 weeks old because she was different from her brother and sisters. We will get her a playmate as soon as we move into a house. Having two puppies would be too crazy for me to handle right now in an apartment!

Welcome! My puppy was born on Christmas also, what does your pups name mean?
-
Akeyla means Noble. Noble is what we are going to name our next puppy. Pretty cute huh?

Very cute, I can't wait for my next but am shooting for 2 years until the next addition. Dude is my boy, my first basenji and I hope to add a girl winter 2010, she will be called Ono, Hawaiian for the best. Can't wait for pics!
