• Those of us that sleep with our basenjis have, no doubt, observed them "running" or whimpering, growling, yodeling or what ever other crazy noises they make.

One night one of my basenjis was "running" and growling. I guess my foot got too close and was incorporated into the dream/nightmare. One of my basenjis clamped on to it and shook it.

  • I have had a couple who occasionally howled in their sleep. Very mournful and eerie, jolted me wide awake! Otherwise mine are mostly silent, sound sleepers.

  • When I walk mine in the foothills and my oldest gets lost, he does that eerie howl.

  • Not sure if she dreams but I do know that for a small go she sure can take up alot of room under the covers.

  • On one occasion during the middle of the night I woke up to the most sad, mournful howling sound… It was Bella, she had sat straight up in bed with her head tilted way back wailing one long ROOOOOOooooo! Then she just lay back down and slept on... She must have had a bad dream and it sent chills down my spine! But most of the time she just hogs the bed and growls if I try to move her!

How can such a small animal give you the last 4 inches of the bed?

  • We have a pair of 3 years olds… brother & sister, that sleep with us. Once in a while the boy will howl in the middle of the night. Although it wakes us up, it is quite comical. Both of them will take the occaisional "walk" while napping as well.
