Maybe Malu is just shedding his puppy coat. It will blow out then his adult coat will grow in.
Shedding

Yea, wherever Sahara lays she leaves lots of hair. I just noticed it lately, guess it is her shedding time. But I must say, not as much as you describe. There might be another issue going on with your Bs, are they on good food, are they stressed with anything new happening, change in routine? Good Luck!!!!

We use a supplement called The Missing Link. Just add it to their food. Rommel was shedding really bad so we started adding Missing Link and the shedding stopped. You can find it at Pet Smart or get more info from their site. www.missinglinkproducts.com Hope this info will help you.

Do Basenjis have a shedding season. Recently, my girls were shedding lots of fur. A brush from their back to the neck is enough to fill your palm with fur. I have to spend extra effort nowadays sweeping, vacuuming….backbreaking labour
Yes, Basenjis have a shedding season… each is different, but I have always found that the bitches will shed a couple months after being in season or if they have had a litter.

We shed both spring and fall, but we live in Michigan and the seasons change drastically. We have tried using "the furminator" and it works really well, but Piggy hates to be brushed so its a hassle.

My Bs are spayed so they have no heat season. In Singapore, the weather is warm and humid all year round so I don't think they respond to season changes. Judging from the responses, I guess Bs, like all other dogs, have shedding seasons. I guess I have to take note of the date and prepare the vacuum cleaner and sweat!

and yes, spayed/neuters will shed also, usually twice a year.. and I have found that every couple of years they shed worse then others. One of the things that bugs me most about many of the things you read on Basenjis is they claim "do not shed"…. as we can all attest to.... NOT TRUE

I have just been going through this with someone who believed they did not shed. Yes, they do. Shadow, as he is neutered, sheds a lot heavier than the girls who are not spayed. He also tends to have a thicker, softer coat.

I have often thought of mailing hair from a shedding Basenji to people that tend to believe everything they read…. gggg
