When my daughter was pregnant she would stop by once a week and Izzy would always sniff her all over , most of all her stomach and around that area, her husband was afraid of Izzy being around the baby when he came , because Izzy is not a real friendly basenji especially to my son in law. Izzy has never had any aggression toward my grandson, my grandson is 7 now and Izzy is always there to protect him, when the grandson goes down the stairs Izzy is just one step in front of him like he is protecting him from falling. I don't know about other basenjis but Izzy loves kids, but not a lot of adults.
Poor Baby!

Mya got spayed yesterday, had her hernia removed, and got microchipped. I picked her up from the vet and she looked soooooo sad. I had to pick her up to get her into the car and boy did she let out a scream. One of the nurses, Jenn, helped me get her into the car all the while Mya was screaming and biting her. Mya even drew blood on Jenn. (I'm definately going to have to make that one up to her.) Mya had a pretty difficult day yesterday to say the least.
Mya is much better today and has really perked back to her regular self. Still a bit tender, but genuinely a happy girl again.

Oh poor baby….here's to a quick recovery for her.

Well, I'm going to take Mya's side: If I got spayed, microchipped, and had a hernia repair, I bite the first person involved that I could get my teeth into!
Poor Mya,
Pat

My B, Sahara handled her spaying very well, it must have been the other things that made her so sensitive, like the hernia. I bet she is real sore from that, I thinks she deserves some doggie ice cream, poor baby!!!!!

One of the nurses said that Mya was probably reacting that way due to the anesthesia. I also agree that the hernia played a part in the pain aspect for her.
She has been fantastic all day today though. We're making sure she is well taken care of.
Thanks all!
