It,s a sign

Basenji Talk

  • just had a call from a breeder who has black and whites. I got Kaycee out of the paper from some people who had two red/whites and wanted mum to have a litter, then had her sterilised. Turns out that Kaycee's dad is originally from this particular breeder. it's a sign, i'm sure of it. And it turns out that black/whites are fine by me. Gonna go up and see them in a couple of weeks and pick a litle boy. They are only four days old. I can't wait to see them.

  • Well BIG congrats!!!!!!!!

dont you love it when the world just works out that way? :P

  • Hope you get one that works with you.

  • I have had reds, now have 2 tris and 1 black & white. While I have loved every one, my black/white, Topper, is my true "heart dog" so I have a strong prejudice for black & white! Good luck, you will love whatever you get.

  • Glad it worked out for you.

  • Thanks guys
Your support really means a lot. When i figure out how to send photos, i will.
    Hugs

  • I love black and whites and have two myself.

Please make sure that the parents have been tested for Fanconi Syndrome. There are many Australian basenjis in the OFA database just type in the parents' names to see if they are there.

My dog had an adverse reaction to the Heartworm edible I gave her, do you possibly give one? if so is it maybe related to that? I had to switch brands and she still doesnt feel well for 1 to 2 days after I give it, but it is not as bad as the other brand. Her symptoms were changes in consistency and color and frequency of bowel movements, she didnt eat, and didnt want to be bothered. And she ate grass.

You can find a lot of puppy collars at thrift shops for pretty cheap - would never pay full price for one. I'm getting mine at 14 weeks and was told that 8-12 inches was what was being used - then at 4- 6 months graduate to 10-14 inch collar.

I'm afraid If I do decide to get another I won't have a chance to introduce them beforehand as it Will probably be a puppy I bring from the US.. I doubt there will be a problem since she will be a young puppy…

Isis is darling! By all means do a 'well baby' visit with your vet, and order the DNA swab for fanconi, huge peace of mind. I had a wonderful Isis many years ago, I love the name!

I could list a whole lot of things but the snuggling under the covers is the sweetest. That's when I love her most. One thing I'm really really thankful for now that Abbey's 7 is that she no longer explodes out of the covers at 2 am when a helicopter flies over. Gotta love her for that. Took 7 years but my girl has finally grown up!

If you find that you have excessive collars/leashes, you may want to call your local shelter and see if they would like to have them. So many shelters run on such a shoestring budget, it might be something they'd be able to use but not afford…. Just a thought
