So I told Dh…

Off Topic
  • that I'd love to have a Brindle.

He just laughed out loud and wandered off . . . .

Wonder what he meant by that? :p

  • LOL. Keep trying & maybe he'll come around ;)

  • Just bring one home and tell him that you thought he was laughing out of happiness! :D

  • My husband was against having two for quite some time, but since we got the second he's seen that it's actually easier in some ways. They really wear each other out and my first B has actually been a great help in the potty training of the little one.

  • Oh… mine, while he loves and enjoys them both very much and wouldn't give them up, is not quite sure that getting a second B was a brilliant move on his part. LOL

  • I almost bought an Italian Grayhound yesterday, but didn't b/c it was at a Pet Store (I was looking to see if they had any Bs, that's where I got Sahara). This girl was in a cubicle looking and holding the puppy, it looked to be a minature, it was very, small, about 3 lbs. anyways, I will buy my next puppy from a breeder that I have contacted and know is on the up and up. I was so weak though, it was precious, when I got home and told DH, he said, "Oh, Yea how much was it", I almost couldn't believe he said that. He couldn't believe how much Sahara cost from there, and besides:eek:  he said he isn't sure we need another dog. What? Men, what you gonna do with them????

  • hhahahah im sure if you just.. go out one day and come home with a brindle.. he wouldnt make you take it back :D

hee hee, maybe, maybe….. I am inclined to doubt that, but it IS how I got Gypsy! :p

@JENGOSMonkey I WAS THERE FOR '89! I was a kid, but I remember the water coming out of the swimming pool in huge waves and everything falling from the shelves! I was actually born in San Jose, but moved around a lot later LOL I hear the wildfires are more of a concern for you guys now? That's scarier than quakes for me...

I cannot imagine committing to buy a puppy without seeing the animal and if possible the sire and dam. OTOH, a rescue (or adoption of an older dog) is a different thing. My last two Basenjis came to me sight unseen, and turned out to be wonderful dogs, but the breeders I got them from wanted to place their dogs in an experienced Basenji home, and I only paid the cost of getting the dogs to me. One came by air, one was personally transported to me by his breeder. If she hadn't been happy with what she found I expect she would have taken him back with her when she left. I also had to commit to return him if ever I couldn't keep him. Good breeders care about where their dogs end up.

@sanjibasenji Thanks for the article on Dog Genome Project - I found it very interesting. I was trying to figure out the interactive Genome wheel. It has the basenji closely related to the Azawakh and rat terrier but I’m still trying to figure out the first wheel which has the basenji listed w/ black/grey starting point. As far as the PBS Dog Tales video - it’s very interesting - it’s season 47 episode 2 - I highly recommend you watch the whole thing (54 minutes).

@Kembe, nice post! We've gone to solid food chopped up in a food processor, but we're grinding it a bit more course as we go. So far, no puppies are choking, but good to know!
