Welcome to you and your new addition. Who did you get your pup from?

  • Welcome! We need pictures!!! 🙂

  • Hello and welcome! Looking forward to seeing more pics! 😃

  • Welcome to the pack (pun intended). If you've been lurking for awhile then you know we're all addicted to pictures 🙂

  • Welcome! She looks adorable…looking forward to seeing and hearing more from you!

  • Welcome, enjoy the forum, pics we just love pics.:D

  • Thanks for the warm welcome! Stella is from Dee's Basenjis in Beeville,Texas. She attended her first puppy training class Sunday. I couldn't believe she wasn't the worst behaved pup there. We had a basenji once before. She lived 14 years as a little princess! You all know how that is, I am sure. It's been almost 2 years since she left us, so we thought we were ready for another dog. We looked at several breeds, but we always came back to a basenji. I guess once they have your heart, they always have your heart. Thanks again for the welcome and I will work on getting those pics up.

  • Since not many who are not BCOA members have done the testing, I am guessing that your animals does not come from Fanconi tested stock so please get some blood drawn and send it in to the Fanconi project. It will be important for you to know if you need to take any action early on should she be affected.

  • We are definitely going to have Stella tested. I know the earlier the better. I must say, it is obvious that the people on this forum truly love this breed.

  • Well we always wish that people would ask us what to look for before they buy a dog as many times we have good solid information about breeders that are less than reputable and it's much easier to share that up front than after you have your baby in your lap.

You will also want to talk to your vet about HA because many commercial kennels kept breeding stock that had not been tested and were carriers.

So many people think us show kennels are just for show dogs and since I don't want to show I'll just get one from this back yard breeder or 'pet' breeder - when really the issues we care about are the dogs life.

Good luck with your baby I'm sure you will enjoy her.

  • We will be happy to help you with any issues you have re your new b.
    Welcome
