lol too funny…well I wounld't mind the smeel that much, I smelt and disected my share of dead bodies and dead animals (took biology and forensics at University), I'm just glad they knaw on those things and that we don't have to eat them, although I was a little grossed out putting my hand in that goody bag, i was afraid of what I was going to pull out lol:eek:

  • @Mia:

😃 Ok so I have seen on this site that rawhide = bad, bully sticks = good…so out of curiosity and care of my dogs health I went to the specialty pet store and asked if they had some. I also asked what they were made of  now I wish I had not, because now they are sitting on my living room carpet and all I can think about is what they are lol...as long as the puppies like them I guess it's all good. I also got a few other parts that the lady suggested. They came in a mix bag, so if you have any suggestions of which parts to just throw out let me know, a few I have seen so far in there are pig snout, cow ear, esophagus, thendons, etc...They seem to be happy with their new treats, and so will the chairs and carpet lol. Oh and all the treats are Merricks brand, so I trust they don't have any of those funky perservatives like formaldehyde in them

Some of the rawhide is OK… the compressed ones I have used lots....

  • The hoofs I can not stand, they smell horrible. Sahara loves bully sticks, I pick out the largest one in the box and cut it into 3 smaller pieces. They are pricey and then feeding her Merrick's dry and wet food makes for a big bill when I am done shopping. I have to make them last, but I do not buy the hoofs anymore. Sahara has had alot of the Merrick's chews and I must say she likes them all, the bully sticks last the longest.

  • I'll probably pick up some bully sticks this weekend. I prefer to give him something to chew on while we are eating dinner but nylabones seems to go too quick! If you give them a bully stick does it last longer than a nylabone/greenie?

  • well so far so good, they are pretty pricey but they do last longer than the greenies. They both started on one last night and it's still around this am, and I mean they were chewing on it all night (ahhh a moment of peace lol). Nylabones last very long here becasue I buy the durable kind, the flexible ones just get chewed up in 2.5 mintues, and I am scared they'll swallow the pieces.

  • I was checking online for some (the nearby stores here don't carry them) and also found a related item called pizzle sticks - described as "the other part" Any thoughts about the pizzles compared to the bullys (they are a little cheaper)?

  • I buy in bulk from Bullysticksonline.com, you have to buy a lot at one time but the price is good and the quality is excellent (no odor). If you can share an order with a friend or two it isn't too bad, winds up being about $3.50 for a "deluxe" 12 inch stick. I used to cut them in half, but now I leave them whole, as I take away the last inch or two, I realized I was wasting some. I buy a box about once a year, and give them out every week or so.
