• My son came home from sleep-away-camp on Friday. He was away for 7 weeks. Ever since then, Lillie has been acting up. She has been ripping up everything in sight (more than usual). She emptied my bathroom garbage pail, ripipng all tissues. She also started nipping (mostly my son). Could she be jealous of my son? I'm sure it will only be a matter of time before Lillie is used to Scott again. Has anyone else experienced jealousy with their b's (jealousy with humans).
    Thanks,
    Jodie:)

  • Sounds like she might just be excited that he is home. Is she growling and nipping in a menacing way? Or an excited goofy way?

She might also just be voicing her displeasure at the change in routineā€¦seven weeks is a LONG time to have a member of the household gone! I don't think that dogs really feel jealousy...at least not the same way humans do.

  • Andrea-I didn't think of it that way. I guess it really is a change of routine for her. She is definitely not nipping in a menacing way, no growling. It is more like she wants Scott's attention and she is nipping at his shirt and legs. She will stop when I show her the squirt bottle. Thanks for your advise.
    Jodie:)

  • Chance gets jealous too. When my boyfriend comes home and gives me a kiss, guess who get in between us. Anytime I show affection he has to be right in the middle of it. šŸ™‚

  • Champ doesn't like it when I sing to someone other than him. If I snuggle with someone he'll try to come between us or pulls on my shirt. But when my daughter comes back from a long weekend away he'll get very excited and pull on her and also nip. This was a big problem we had before with our daughter but we began doing the treat thing. When she would wake up in the am she would tell him to sit and calm down and then she will give him a treat. She also started walking him on the leash and feedng him. We started showing him that she was an alph just like mommy and daddy and needed to be respected. On occasion when he does not relax and nip or pulls on her shirt, we'll use the empty can.
