For those interested in Lure coursing to watch or participate, click on the link, scroll down to the Nov 24 & 25th event, it gives directions and times, a lay out map of the courses.

We will be there on Sat. for sure to run Willy for practice, hope to see some of you there. If you've never seen the hounds run, it's worth the trip.

Thinking outside the square.
I see there are Grayhound races in your town.
Maybe get in touch and see if they have a training facility you could access.
Or a trainer may have a track at home you could use.

yeah i got in contact with one of the local agility/dog sports group (TOADs). They dont run lure coursing and confirmed there wasnt a coursing group in Townsville. However, never thought of contacting the grayhound group so thats worth following up. Thanks for the idea 🙂

The afghan won over Uku (b/w) and over Valhi (r/w) she got a fright at the begining at the hairy giant dog behind her, stopped for a bit then ran again really well untill the afghan decided to play with her and she couldn't finish properly; the afghan didn't even get disqualified for annoying my dog and got better note :mad:

That doesn't sound very fair:mad:

Yay glad to see some more local interest!
As far as training, there is a group called SONG (Sighthounds of North Georgia) that does informal practices once a month or so depending on man power & weather. These practices are a great way to introduce a new dog to the lure. However, for most dogs its an instinctual thing & they don't need much training. Lola & Callie both caught on to it their first time. I just let them both watch other dogs doing it first, then let them go & they did their thing.

I tried an online seach for lure coursing in Orlando but nothing. The closest one is about an hour away, actually ASFA only cites 3 in the whole state of Florida! If anyone can give me advice on how to find a club and get my puppy running that would be great.

If they are not listed with ASFA or not AKC ( and I check AKC site and looks like only one club in AKC does coursing in FLA, Sunshine State Coursing Club of Central Florida) most likely you will not find one any closer. You might try NOTRA (oval track and see if any in FLA) but usually the same clubs that course do NOTRA. Also you might contact the club in Fla and ask them..
