    Welcome! And what fun you have coming! We use wire crates at home, and vari kennels in the car. Ours don't seem to have a preference.

    Welcome! The "fun and active" part will be good for having a basenji pup! I have the vari Kennel, but I agree with the "view" part with the wire type.
    This forum is great for information, fun and support. Enjoy…and yes, we love pictures! Can't wait to see your pups!

    i use a large vari kennel at home and a medium one for traveling. congrats on the new pup! who is your breeder? are you showing? i am sure you will like this place. there are some very smart basenji owners and breeders here who will bestow their wisdom upon you. (trust me, you will need some! to keep from pulling your hair out) good luck :)

    Thanks for the advice! I think we'll give the Vari-Kennel a try. Our breeder is Katie Campbell. We are pretty sure we will just get a pet, but I've been becoming increasingly interested in showing. If our little guy has any show potential, we may try it. If not, we are thrilled with a beautiful pet.

    Yes, we are getting a Chloe/Rev pup. We are soo excited, but Katie has been busy with 2 litters, so we haven't seen pictures as of yet. She has told us that they are all extremely healthy and are all very distinct. We are hoping to get a B/W male.
    Katie is a fantastic breeder, and we're glad we found her.

    fender has lots of taji dogs in his pedigree! i have seen katie at shows, her dogs are beautiful Especially the black and whites!!!!! :) lucky you

    Delighted that Kane is finally on the mend - you will see his weight gain in leaps and bounds now he no longer has those unwelcome little visitors. Keep a close eye on him though and get back to the vet at the first sign of any more troubles. good luck to you both !

    I have to go read your link, but having been called to the shelter to see a chow that was an overweigh pomeranian, a rottweiler that was a lovely hound dog (Rottie rescue in FL told me keep quiet, they knew it wasn't a rottie but had a good home so just get it. I expected a LITTLE Rottweiler looking... bahahaha, no.)... vets who thought our basenjis were so many other things, not much surprises me.

    Yes to the suggestions to get her checked and also spay her. Aggression may not necessarily be vicious but rather reaction to the scary situation she encountered. It can be dealt with through consistent and regular training (with treats to start) - you might try the Fenzi Dog Academy online classes (they have a great class for retraining reactive dogs). But regardless you need to be more aware of her surroundings and not put her in a situation that may be scary to her or at least get her attention back on you (treats) when you can't avoid the situation.

    i apologize, my wife has joined this forum too, and asking same question her user ID is queendom. today they have bath schedule, we will take some picture after bath. this is first bath since they arrived. the vet told not to bathing them for 3 days after they got anti scabies injection

    I welcome you also. Puppies are so adorable. Just remember a quiet Basenji is not necessarily a good thing. After all these years I still forget that one.
