  • Congrats on the pup, good luck and welcome to the forum.

Pics, we just love puppy pics.;)

  • Welcome! And what fun you have coming! We use wire crates at home, and vari kennels in the car. Ours don't seem to have a preference.

  • Welcome! The "fun and active" part will be good for having a basenji pup! I have the vari Kennel, but I agree with the "view" part with the wire type.
This forum is great for information, fun and support. Enjoy…and yes, we love pictures! Can't wait to see your pups!

  • i use a large vari kennel at home and a medium one for traveling. congrats on the new pup! who is your breeder? are you showing? i am sure you will like this place. there are some very smart basenji owners and breeders here who will bestow their wisdom upon you. (trust me, you will need some! to keep from pulling your hair out) good luck :)

  • Welcome!!! And congrats on your new furbaby!! :) you'll like it here & do share pics when your little one arrives.

We use wire crates at home & the vari Kennel for long drives in the car.

  • Welcome and I can't wait to see puppy pictures. Waiting is the hardest part but enjoy the sleep you have now…Puppies LOVE to keep you awake ;)

  • Thanks for the advice! I think we'll give the Vari-Kennel a try. Our breeder is Katie Campbell. We are pretty sure we will just get a pet, but I've been becoming increasingly interested in showing. If our little guy has any show potential, we may try it. If not, we are thrilled with a beautiful pet.

Yay! Katie is one of our breeders as well. The basenji in the avatar is Ch Taji's Closing Bell at Quercus JC…or Bella! I am sure you will LOVE your Taji basenji! You must be getting a Chloe puppy :) Fun, fun, fun!</our>

  • Yes, we are getting a Chloe/Rev pup. We are soo excited, but Katie has been busy with 2 litters, so we haven't seen pictures as of yet. She has told us that they are all extremely healthy and are all very distinct. We are hoping to get a B/W male.
Katie is a fantastic breeder, and we're glad we found her.
    Have a great day!:)

  • fender has lots of taji dogs in his pedigree! i have seen katie at shows, her dogs are beautiful Especially the black and whites!!!!! :) lucky you

Joan and Traci, happy to email you pictures. I will take some this weekend and sent them your way. The female is bigger in size (about 6kg) and lovely (tan with some black stripes and a lovely face) and extremely sharp. She is already trained. The male is smaller in size (about 5kg now) and very good natured. He is quieter but very vivid and active. We started their vaccination this week and they will have their booster in a month or so. I will be in touch. Thank you.

Make sure you tell breeders that he'll be home. :) List, no list, breeders want the best homes and that certainly would bump you up on my list!

If you click on the last icon with the arrow up icon, you can upload photos. They need to be in JPG format I think.

Everyone meet Klassic's Trixie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We drove the 3.5 hours from Pittsburgh to pick up Trixie from Sue (Klassic Basenji's in Marion, OH). It was a very long day with 7 hours of driving to and from, but the ride home was much better than the ride there, except for the part where Trixie peed on my friend that went with me to pick her up! Trixie seems to be adjusting well so far, we are about 50/50 with going potty outside. Trying to learn her body language as to when she needs to go out! She is a stubborn thing on the leash and that will need much work as well! So happy to have her here! She loves our kitty Pinkie, and our miniature pinscher, Zombie. Zombie is more interested in stealing the puppies belonging's and claiming them for her own. Or it would be more expensive through him because he'd need to mark up for his - or his staff's - time to coordinate. Makes sense - smart to just do it on your own. Both our pups were rescues, but in Bongo's case he was from a shelter so we have no info at all on his pedigree and we were able to register for the test. They don't always operate really quickly, though. Congrats on your beautiful girl! Enjoy!

He's a hungry dog today. Gave him 1/2 cup in the morning and just a few minutes ago. He had no problem eating. I'm much more happy that he's eating now. He likes his bone as well. Not too much into the Kong yet. I just wish he didn't cry in his crate when I put him in there. Feel bad for him but I know it just takes adjusting. He is perfectly fine when I return home after he's been in there awhile. It's just the initial time. To be honest though, this transition went far better than I expected. I was prepared for the worst. This little guy has done very well.
