    I bought the Tornado Game for our two Basenjis to test their mental skills.

    Dog - A is a female, Dog - B is a male.

    Dog A figured out how to remove the bones & twist the levels to get to the treats. Dog B stood & watched as Dog A removed the bones, then ate the revealed snacks while Dog A put the bones on a pillow some distance away.

    Which dog is smarter, Dog A who figured out the puzzle, or Dog B for not even trying, but waiting to steal the treats?

    Dog B sounds smarter to me. :)

    Last summer Kipawa and I experienced lure coursing for the first time at Kipawa's breeders' home. It was a very hot day and the grass was dry and hot. Therese and Kevin had big cooling buckets that each dog stepped into after they ran the course. One of the basenjis ran the course for his first time. The second time, at the second turn, he just cut across the center of the course and met the lure back at the finish area.

If the age part is true, the rest is not (unless there's difference between our European bred Basenjis and those in Africa): NARRATOR: Sharing the same curly-tailed trait [as the Akita] is the venerable African Basenji.     Unfortunately, the only think photos would show is black dots in paddocks of green lucerne. I have tried taking photos but without a zoom lens it's impossible. The paddocks are about 200 yards by 600 yards. Sorry. But I did see a fox sneaking across a paddock today at 3pm in the afternoon. The dogs must have been asleep! I called them but then the fox bolted, too late for the sleepy dogs.

    Well, the lab I mentioned (chocolate overweight one) almost took me out by slamming into my knee. I commented loudly " he better not insure my knee!" No comment from the owner. Others were keeping an eye on this over exhuberant dog too. Many peeps were standing behind a bench for protection. What really bugs me is that the park has very visible signs when you enter it that say you must have control of your dog.

    Great article thanks!!! Will look into other books by Bradshaw. I have since finished it and thought it was great. There's some basenji info in there'd too. I pretty much agree with everything he says… And I though it was very entertaining!!

    Jaycee digs same way but she does somersaults head down over she gos first time neighbor saw it they could not beleive it. I think neighbor came over every day for a week waiting to see it again and Jaycee would do it. Yes I very much second that digging usually will cause the great B-500. Rita Jean

    The only sweat glands on a dog are on the feet. They keep their foot pads supple, but also sent mark the trail. I actually like the way goober smells. Probably because I grew up with a dish called Frito and Chili pie. My old dog Missy had the standard stinky dog smell which I wasn't too fond of, but I didn't hate it enough to give her a bath more than once a month. I wonder if th
