    I bought the Tornado Game for our two Basenjis to test their mental skills.

    Dog - A is a female, Dog - B is a male.

    Dog A figured out how to remove the bones & twist the levels to get to the treats. Dog B stood & watched as Dog A removed the bones, then ate the revealed snacks while Dog A put the bones on a pillow some distance away.

    Which dog is smarter, Dog A who figured out the puzzle, or Dog B for not even trying, but waiting to steal the treats?

    Dog B sounds smarter to me. :)

    Last summer Kipawa and I experienced lure coursing for the first time at Kipawa's breeders' home. It was a very hot day and the grass was dry and hot. Therese and Kevin had big cooling buckets that each dog stepped into after they ran the course. One of the basenjis ran the course for his first time. The second time, at the second turn, he just cut across the center of the course and met the lure back at the finish area.

    I found the transcript from the documentary. If the age part is true, the rest is not (unless there's difference between our European bred Basenjis and those in Africa): NARRATOR: Sharing the same curly-tailed trait [as the Akita] is the venerable African Basenji.     If the dogs are having similar symptoms as in the previous years, they need to be treated ASAP! It is my understanding that many are developing the acquired Fanconi Syndrome and need to be put on the protocol. Many vets though do not have the equipment to do the venous blood gas test and get an accurate diagnosis. Emergency vets should have the equipment. Do not buy any dog treats that come from China and if the package does not state where it is from then do not buy it! Jennifer

    Well, the lab I mentioned (chocolate overweight one) almost took me out by slamming into my knee. I commented loudly " he better not insure my knee!" No comment from the owner. Others were keeping an eye on this over exhuberant dog too. Many peeps were standing behind a bench for protection. What really bugs me is that the park has very visible signs when you enter it that say you must have control of your dog.

    I think I know!!! I think it's Dutch - Abotere's Zahir for Hicel. Oh dear, I speak to this dog at every show :o

    Yes I agree Pat, Fort Funston could get very crowded and dangerous for smaller dogs as packs of bigger dogs playing could cause injury. My 2 Basenjis were very good and stayed pretty close to me and got used to the crowds. The only problem I had there was with this lady who had an older Tri color female Basenji. It would bite my blk/wht, Nika who was 1-1/2 on the butt. A few times of that and I stayed way away from her. The problem is Nika was a very playful girl and never did anything like that. A few times of getting nipped on the butt started her doing it to other dogs and Basenjis. A Basenji would want to play and Nika would chase and give a nip and the the other dog would get mad and a fight would occur. Nobody would ever get hurt thankfully. It was rare that it would happen as I took them there for 9 years, mostly on the weekend without problem. We had a lot of fun and people loved the Basenjis! Ringo, the red/wht was a very entertaining clown when we'd go down to the beach.
