Chelsie-the B's don't get a chance to see them. The B's are in the front in a pen and the ducklings and chickens are in the back. After Shadow decided to help me butcher a chicken when we first moved in, I thought it prudent to keep them separated. They would definitely terrorize them. Yes, Robyn, I made the duck tractor. It has wheels on the one end so I can move it around. I do have a duck pen, and they will go in it when I fix the duck house. It seems rats, or something decided to make a meal of the one end and floor of the house. So, I have to fix that. I do really like it, but it won't be big enough in a couple of weeks for them. I will try to get more pics of the little monsters today. (And, the pen will work very well for one of the dogs if I ever need it!!) Yes, they grow very, very fast. If I can get a pic of them up and about, you will see how it's very hard to tell which one had the spraddle legs. The rouens are bigger than the muscoveys. There are three rouens and they have an eye stripe. It seems to me there are a couple of issues here. I don't think a shelter wants just any JoeBloe walking in one day to say "hey I'd like to help by walking your dogs". The shelter needs to know something about its volunteers though a criminal check might be a bit much. If someone has been volunteering at a shelter for some time so the staff knows them and now new policies are being put into effect, then the shelter should have some sort of informational meeting/handout for all its volunteers so they know what and why. And even when volunteers have been accepted, some mini-training should be included for handling dogs. Many shelter dogs have been abused so I wouldn't want a volunteer who grew up under the "old" system of training with spanking and collar yerking now handling a special needs dog. Actual certification for dog walkers - no - the government intrudes enough.

We had a lovely day with family and friends. Cory got a new coat and enjoyed a big bone in her crate while we all opened gifts. The crate was by the fireplace and she had a good vantage point without being tempted to assist in the unwrapping of gifts. She hadn't ever seen a fire in the fireplace before and wasn't too sure about it at first. (We don't get too many chances in coastal Georgia to justify building a fire.) We hope everyone's Christmas was as good. Pat
