Anubis fun

Basenji Talk

  • I love writing about my 3.5 yr old B Anubis. He's so goofy and it's never a dull moment when hes around. Okay so tonight me and my friend Dean we're hanging outside enjoying the cool air (It's been 106 here lately!) and Anubis was running around outside with my 8mo Lab mix Casey. We look up and Anubis is chasing Casey around to try to steal her new toy (She chewed a water hose and loves to drag the chewed off piece around). He manages to grab it after 5min of her playing Keep Away with him. They start playing Tug Of War with the hose. We found it hilarious. Every time Casey would pull Anubis would let out this grunting growl lol. It was too cute…she dragged him all over the yard. Eventually he got tired of the game and walked off. But it was too cute in the moment!

  • I would have enjoyed watching them. Since I have only one dog at the moment, I miss watching the antics two would get up to. :)

  • Those are the times you wish you had a camera right there with you. It does sound like they were enjoying the games!

  • I was dying laughing…by the time I pulled my cell out they had stopped. I was like Awe Man!! haha

I think Oakley sees my point because he will look to the object my hand is touching…most often times at least..he never looks at my face for a cue of to acknowledge my words..if I throw something and tell him to go get it (and he doesn't see the throw)..it's impossible to direct him towards it..he's silly that way- no direction!

Yep, he did both and did quite well. And yeah, I would definitely take him to the race meets and let him have a little fun. I have seen quite a few dogs in their teens enjoying a romp on the field. :) I don't know what lure coursing is in your area, but I do know there are races in MN, sounds like they're not too far from you? And race meets are usually a lot more accomodating as far as practices. Have fun Luny!

My husband and I went to a Rays baseball game several weeks ago where he actually caught a foul ball! Well we brought the ball home and he was so proud (never caught a ball before) but guess who has had her eyes on it since it came into the house. You guessed it little Ms. Trixie. He had it showing our kids and she actually jumped up onto his lap and tried to take it. We of course have since went out and bought her (I know spoiled rotten) her own baseball and she loves it!

Booger & I play hide & seek. I throw a toy; he goes to fetch it while I hide. He drops the toy where I threw it from & then goes to look for me. Nothing can distract him until he has found me, but we don't play as much as we once did because he got too smart for the limited number of hiding places my little brain can think up.

Mine played like I described when they were 2 or 3 years old. When they got up around 7 or 8 they become less interested in playing. Chasing squirrels or anything that runs is always an interest.
