Brindles were very contraversial in this country when they first arrived. The Kennel Club wouldn't acknowledge the colour and it wasn't admitted into the Standard for quite a while. One brave judge gave a CC to a brindle, before it was a recognised colour. I admit I wasn't keen on it, but surprised myself in Germany when I judged their specialty, by finding brindles for many of my top winners. Heads were universally better in them and movement was (almost) back to true Basenji gait. Something rarely seen these days, anywhere. And I have judged in quite a few countries. . . I put it down to the fact that, as they were very recent imports from Africa, humans had had fewer generations to mess about with them and they were still far closer to the old fashioned Basenjis I prefer !

I guess I'm the lucky one w/o such a mischievous B. He has yet to take something that does not belong to him. Nor does he display any interest in my shoes or any other cables around my home. :D Although he does like the stuffing in the couch, that' just a given with Basenjis. (I'm probably going to come home to shredded shoes today. We all know Basenjis can read our thoughts, I'm in trouble now :D )

I think basenjis are the most beautiful creatures - running full out like that and having all feet off the ground, so close to just flying! But Miss Ono is very special too. Thank you for sharing such lovely pictures.

It is a good idea filling the ball with food. Malaika will fetch a toy 3 or 4 times to us and then becomes bored.

Thanks. I am lucky that we have so many good photographers that come out to our lure trials and capture the dogs doing what they love. I also just have to brag that Rio, the red and white in the yellow jacket, earned Best of Breed at the Northern California Whippet Club ASFA trial this Monday. I am so proud of her.
