It is difficult to give up a dog one has had for over 4 years! I lived in an apt. in Houston and I know that unless you walk the dog frequently or have it go to doggy day care and dog parks, the dog will not get enough exercise.

6 year-old Red and White girl (in BRAT's care now)

I would not say that the Black mix is Basenji….
I agree with Tanza - the black dog does not look Basenji.
He doesn't even resemble a basenji.
Hey, man…I didn't classify him. If you think that one's bad, check this little guy out!

Yup… that is certainly not a Basenji... and it it is a mix, it certainly took after whatever the other dog was....
Okay, we discussed which dogs aren't Basenji, but what about the ones who are? One of them is safely in BRAT's custody…what about the other?
Sahel is a gorgeous girl! I hope she finds a good home soon! This is what I don't understand.. The pup is about a year old and the owner wants to get rid of her because: "I'll be traveling and working more this year, so I'm finding a new home for a beautiful and sweet female Basenji"
What about thinking before getting a dog

Because people buy on a "whim".. and when purchasing from a BYB or on the internet, they are not screened… I would dare say that a responsible breeder would have screened out this person and explained that maybe this is not the best time to get a pup. Or maybe they did and were rejected by a responsible breeder so turned to the BYB or internet where there is no screening

I contacted the one in Atlanta and asked a few basic questions, who was the breeder, health testing, etc., but received no response. He has already found a home or something fishy is going on.

It is possible that the owner has a new job, something possibly unexpected especially with the sketchy job market in the US presently. In any case it sounds as if the owner cares about her and would like to find a good home.
