How do I go about getting Pippin registered here…

Basenji Talk
  • …in USA? He is already registered with the Swedish Kennel Club, but how do I get him AKC reg. here so I can show him?
I bet it is a pretty easy answer, but I have yet to find it so I figured one of y'all might know.

    Thanks, Petra.

ps..he is 4 weeks old now and the cutest one of the all...I think.

  • Can't help you.. but I saw the pic of the three pups in the basket on FB… Pippin is soooooo cute.. as is his little tri brother with the small amount of white on the face... Is he still available?! ;) Super cute!

  • Here you go :)

My dog is registered with a foreign registry. Can I register my dog with the AKC?

Answer: A description of the foreign registration process, along with a listing of acceptable foreign registries, can be found at http://www.akc.org/registration/specreg.cfm.

You will need an AKC Foreign Registration Application (ADIMPT). You can download the foreign registration application from our website. You will need to go to the following address - http://www.akc.org/insideAKC/masterform.cfm.

The application is in .pdf format and requires the use of Adobe's Acrobat Reader to view the application. Adobe's Acrobat Reader can be obtained free of charge from www.Adobe.com. You must use Adobe Acrobat Reader version 4.0 or newer to view the files. If you need an application mailed to you, please e-mail your name and your home mailing address (snail mail).

The dog must be registered with the name that appears on the foreign Registration Certificate/Certified Pedigree. Foreign titles will not appear on any AKC documentation.

The items listed below must be submitted for the AKC to consider registration (this information also is printed on the form):

    1. The properly completed application, signed in ink.

    2. The $50.00 registration fee, payable in U.S. funds - do not send cash.

    3. A clear and legible photocopy of the original Certificate of Registration indicating the dog's registry and owner of record - do not send the original certificate.

    4. The original foreign three-generation Certified Pedigree (or Export Pedigree, where applicable) is required. If both the sire and dam of the dog identified on the application are AKC registered, print the AKC registration number of the sire and dam in the appropriate spaces on the front of the application. In this case, you may omit the copy of the Certified Pedigree.

    5. All foreign dogs being registered with the AKC are required to have positive identification. This section of the application must be completed to show: a) the type of identification (tattoo, microchip, DNA profile), b) the identifying information and its location on the dog, and c) the registry recording the identifying information. The identification may be done after the dog is in the United States, but prior to AKC registration.

    6. Two three-by-five-inch color photographs, providing close-up front and side views of the dog in a standing position, are required.

Janneke, I believe Linda already has owners for all pups :).

I wasn't serious ;) I'm glad Linda found new homes for the pups :)

  • Yes, Janneke, they are all spoken for. Linda is keeping one herself (I think it is the one on the right, less white on the face) and one is going to Denmark..and Pippin is coming to us..

Debra, thank you for the info..

I know what you mean Patty; but I always made sure to do this and it didn't make any difference. It's not every dog I've had that could do this; most can't but once they figure it out the first time they always seem to do it again.

I still get alot of people who ask what breed zoe is. At least at 8 months no one asks if she is a chi anymore. Some start out asking what kind of mix she is. Every once in awhile someone recognizes that she is a basenji. Just yesterday we were waiting outside a sheetz gas station when a woman looked up and saw zoe at the window with me and had to come over to ask if she was a B. I get people who uncurl her tail all the time luckily she doesnt mind in the least you can touch her all over no problem. And most of the time she loves the attention. I swear if someone passes by her without petting and adoring her she will look at them like they are idiots.

Tillo doesn't like the rain as well. We pick him up, and put him on the grass. Than it's ok and he will walk for 5 - 10 minutes. Since monday we bring him to the 'baby'sitter during daytime. She didn't know about the 'picking him up', so he didn't want to go out.. and peed in the house…. ;)

Hello, I have some ideas for your stains. Everything these ladies have been saying is correct. Hairspray definately works for ink stains, it has been tried and tested many times by myself. It works on all fabric types from synthetics to vinyls and all polycotton and cotton blends. Just spray your carpet (I like to over spray usually) and take some carpet cleaner and it should wash out. The Tide pen is a miracle in it's self, I too have recently discovered. Spot shot works really good on most stains, it used to be a household necessity until we got our Hoover Steam Cleaner. No pet owner should be without one!:D As far as the Basenji, good ol soap and water does the trick with some elbow grease! I am disgusted to say that my boyfriend one day decided he was going to give Tang a tatoo using a black sharpie marker. I got mad at him and took Metinga upstairs and washed her head until it came off. It did not take that long maybe about 10-15 min of washing and the white was good as new. I used a bit of dog shampoo as well.:D

The neighbors boxer was not so much aggressive with Cali as she was with my brothers boxer. Cali usally plays with their German Shepherd pup and they get along really well. True, I shouldnt have taken Lady anywhere near their boxer, but I thought they would get along because their boxer gets along with the other boxer down the street.. My brother also has a Cane Corso(Italian Mastiff) and a Rottweiler and his Boxer is used to playing with them all of the time because they live together. When I say discipline I mean more of a "time out" in the crate or a stern NO! Sometimes if I clap my hands once and say NO! at the same time she gets the message. I have had her 2 months now and we are both making progress. I am learning what worked for my other dogs does not necessarily work for Cali. I do notice that training her is a lot different from my previous 2 dogs (Pitbull/Rottweiler mix and a German Shepherd). I have been reading a lot of the posts about obedience and training on the forum and it has helped a lot. Cali is like no other dog that I have owned, but I like being challenged.:) :) :)
