Florida Brat ADOPTERS

Basenji Rescue
  • THANK YOU! Shared on the facebook page.

  • I love watching these videos! (Dakota's ears are adorable!)

It's amazing to see what a difference a year makes for thes poor critters. Hats off to Pam, the new parents, and all of the volunteers! :)

  • BRAT did good, THEY did!!!

  • Hi y'all.

Just a note. We are trying to keep this group for 2 folks… actual adopters and BRAT fosters who dealt with them, so others, please don't be upset if you are not approved. Thanks.

  • @crystalncody:

Has anyone worked with or met any of the Wimauma adults recently?
I've been thinking about applying to adopt one of the females.
Cody's become so much more confident over the last year and a half, and I think he'd be a good companion for one of them.

After careful consideration, we decided to keep the group limited to only actual adopters and foster homes. Crystal I really hope you adopt one.. there are 11 of them left and you would be great.

I hope no one is upset, but when I first asked about setting up the group I had promised it would be limited so that members could feel free to talk only among ourselves.

  • We are lucky enough to have several of the pack in our Sunday group. Last Sunday Butler (Batboy) and Kizzie were there, we also see Kongo (Afrika) and Flash on occasion.

Kizzie (5 months old when captured) was always so shy, even at the park she hung back and her folks sometimes had difficulty catching her to leave, but Sunday she was right in the group, ran in a big 23-basenji run, and came right to her 'mom' easily, what a change. It was a thrill to see her playing with the other basenjis and being so close to the humans, coming to her folks to be petted. Wow, what a lucky basenji!

Butler (Batboy) was only 8 days old when captured, so he has grown up with humans and is not at all shy, comes right up to get petted and is really bonded with his human and basenji brother (an older "Holland" dog, they look very much alike).

It's great that all the adopters have a group to share successes and challenges.

The easier it is for "folks" to find BRAT rescue, the better imo. We have so many b's who need homes. Sigh.

Thank you MacPac. I contacted 2 breeders in the Gainesville-Ocala area but they don't have any available at the moment. We'll keep looking. Thank you everyone for the great suggestions :)
