Looking for breeder recommendation in Czech Republic!

Breeder Talk
  • So my in laws were here visiting for about a month after our wedding and they (mom, brother, niece and nephew) just loved Lenny and Tayda so much that they are apparently interested in learning more about basenjis and possibly adopting one! Can anyone recommend a czech breeder that I can point them to, to ask questions, and maybe visit? Of course one that does Fanconi testing and all other health tests….

I think irena is in the C.Z?

    Hi,
yes I am from Czech Rep. and there is no problem to come for a visit and ask questions ;). You can send them our website address and they can contact me (Irena) or my dad (Miroslav)

Or you can send me their email address if it is better for them.
I would be pleased to meet your new family and recommend them a breeder :).

  • Irena can certainly help you out. :) I got Lycia from Ekibondo Kennels in Cz and they were positively lovely.

  • I recommend Irena, Asthenia basenjis ;) :)

  • @Janneke:

    I recommend Irena, Asthenia basenjis ;) :)

Thank you Janneke for your recommendation :);)!

Replying late, but Mankia Basenjis is in Ontario, as well, as is Duara basenjis. Mankia is in Windsor and Duara is in Sherkston. Good luck!

I agree that cost is not necessarily indicative of the quality of a dog but rather it does reflect the time, energy and costs of producing litters. I find with my own, any way, that there is a terrific saving on veterinary costs as I find that in my experience in general Basenjis are a very healthy breed and trips to the vets in between puppyhood and old age.are minma compared to many breeds. Before anybody comments, I do appreciate that some do seem to have many health problems but overall I think that it is probably quite a small portion..

@Lauma: Do you have any information on Itzyu Basenjis in VA? My mother and brother are adopting a "Golden Opportunity" dog from them next month. Can't go wrong with a Basenji from Itzyu Basenjis…. my opinion is go for it..... and they will get a great "golden opportunity" dog from them!

old thread but figured rather than start a new one ? we picked up one of the new 2012 webmaster ruffwear harness for Hana and she loves it :) we let her wear it around the house a lot to get used to it and she does not seem to mind it one bit ? fits well does not seem to rub hair off like a collar can nice thing is easy on and easy off with the buckles we do camping so wanted a harness over the collar so its more comfy cause some parks require the dog to be leashed up all the time and figured she would like this better also going to get some boots and try them out ? not sure what brand yet but will try the ruffwear

Yes, Arlene, you do need at some point to take a stand and trust what you see and what you like… Breeding comes down to that in the end.... And with a bitch that is only 1 1/2 yrs looking down from the top is not a very good judge... IMO... reason?... They are not mature yet... and they shouldn't be.... their ribs have not even "sprung" at this age.. again IMO.... I would be hard pushed to say a dog is "wider" in the front then the rear at this age by just looking down on them.... again IMO.... Here is a link to 3 pictures of Kobey, 6wks, 3 months and 5 1/2 months... everything I saw on this pup at 6 wks that I liked (and that is a bit early then the 8 wks usually used for evaluating pups) I still see... but there are differences while growing... Now granted this pup is one of the few that has yet to really fall apart with a growing spurt... And also the faults that I saw at 6wks are still there too..... www.tanzabasenjis.net/kobeygrowing.html
