  • Yep, Natomas!

  • We usually go to movie theaters there in Natomas. It is a nice community. And it is not that bad a drive to many of the racing and coursing events that happen in this area if you ever want to come out. Though after this weekend it will be fall before they are around here since the temps normally start to really go up fast this time of year.

  • @lvoss:

Other Sacramentans. I live in Woodland, so not too far from Sacramento.

I am active in racing and coursing my dogs and if you are interested in getting started let me know and I can let you know what events I will be attending.

i would love to get jasper into coursing… i think it would be a good fit for him.. i live in Orangevale..

  • @Tayda_Lenny:

Hey 3basenjis! Welcome to the Forum and I am in the Sacramento area as well with 2 b's - one of them is on the Fanconi Protocol too! If you're interested could meet up and have a playdate sometime! Other Sacramentoers (Sacramentoees?) are welcome also!

Fantastic always love having playdates with the B's!! i live in Orangevale but have traveled to many of the dog parks around the area…

  • The next lure coursing event in the Sacramento area is in Dixon on June 19 and 20. I am attending a wedding in Southern California that weekend so I won't be there but they are usually people there willing to help a beginner get started.

  • Welcome to the forum!

  • a few pics of the kids added to photo album… i can't figure out how to add to the post. hummmm i'll work on that. as a side not Jasper was selected as a Demo dog for the Dog expo June 11-13 at Cal Expo.

@mack-s-grandmom said in Hi, I'm Mack's Grandmom: @mack-s-grandmom Also searching for a clicker for training. Difficult to find a good one. Thanks again for your help! You should be able to find a clicker at most pet stores, but in absence of one it's easy to use a marker word or a click from your tongue. The advantage of a physical clicker is that there is not intonation as there may be with the voice, so the sound is neutral, the disadvantage is that you need to have it in your hand, which isn't always convenient.

@mauigirl: Welcome to the forum! Do you know if your female had Fanconi?? Thanks for the information. Skylar was her name and she did not have fanconi. We do not know what caused the infection, but she lived for three and one half years after her diagnosis. The vet originally stated about 6 months, but we treated her with a blood pressure medication, 81mg asprin and later on malox. She was active and spry right up to the last 3 - 4 weeks. We do as everyone should, check our dogs with the strip test. Also thanks for the welcome…:)

Hi and welcome! When you let her out, I hope you are out also. Sadly, underground fencing is very dangerous… call the closest 10 shelters to find how many dogs they pick up with collars. They get excited, run through it, then can't come back. Also, while it might normally keep your dog in, it won't keep others OUT. But with supervision, they are GREAT so that they get freedom but you are there if a problem arises.
