A boy & his pink monkey!

  • What pink monkey?? Buddy would have destroyed that toy in a few minutes.

  • Well it is important to protect your reputation at the dog park. The other dogs probably have secrets too. My son's 120 lb. rottweiller sleeps with a pink pig and a purple hippo.

  • that pic was taken right before he took all the stuffing out of it! he goes right for the squeaky part and does not give up till there's stuffing all over the house. He greets me ever day at the door with that stupid monkey (minus the stuffing) in his mouth! :D

  • I have more Basenji toys that are coverings without stuffing then you can count… good news is they still like them... and they are great for baby puppies... easy to throw in the washer and dryer.... and they love playing with them

LOL, Buddy shreds/rips up the covers too. I wonder how many toys are in my vacuum cleaner?

  • My crew destroy their toys very quickly too. Katie chews off ears and feet, Petey goes straight for the squeaker kill.
Aries hasn't destuffed anything yet, but I did once get her to "kill" a stuffed pony. Aries is still settling in though, so I think we will see her play more as time pases.

Katie had a special affinity for monkey toys too. She loves all monkey toys.

  • LOL…the look on his face is priceless! "What? It's not mine...really it isn't...and what are you doing with that camera!? [mutters]…I think I just got busted..."

We've been truly lucky with our B, as he only destroys his toys if we leave them in his crate when the door is closed. However, if he's with another dog, then that's a different story. It becomes a tug-of-war to see who can get the squeeky thing first!

The best is watching them throw the toy in the air and playing catch with it...

Maybe you had to choose a blue one?? :D

I have decided that as soon as I have the extra money I will do the DNA test. The thing that got me was when I was reading about the Basenji breed. It was like I was reading about Hank. The more I read the more I was saying ok who did a story on my dog. There were a few differences but so many were spot on. He is stubborn as can be and one thing that really stands out is. He loves to have me take his rope toy and I will stand with my legs a bit apart and then tease him by going like around the outside and inside of one leg. Hank will sit there and watch and I swear he is trying to like figure out a pattern or something. He will not just go back and forth like 99% of dogs would. And escape artist is a understatement for Hank. And the list goes on.

@kjdonkers: How civilized! I can't imagine getting Lela or Binti to do that. You would be surprised! I taught him "pick it up" with clicker training. It's a very useful generic command. You add the names of things as you go. Getting him to bring the item to me was a natural progression, starting with insisting he give it to me to "earn" his reward. Increasing distance gradually leads to a very good retrieve! Perry works best just before his supper time. He knows when he gets it right, dinner will be served. Motivation! :)

@hdolbow: LOL ! of courseeee!!!! when doesn't rocky make those devil noises!? i really think he is a little demon. lol One of these days I am going to have to tape the sounds she makes. It cracks me up! A little scary for other people, my mother-in-law was scared of her the first time she did it. Anymore I just tell her no and knock it off and she normally does!
