Not a brag..

  • Just a show result…

We had a show today and it was a big dissappointment.. First we had to wait 5 hours before it was our turn... and after all the waiting.. Tillo growled at the judge... Big sigh...... Lucky for us the judge didn't disqualify him, but he gave him a 'good'.. He told me he was dissappointed as well, because he liked Tillo's looks.. If Tillo would have behaved.. he would have gained his 4th CAC (he was the only male)..

    Here the judge report:

Male, 22 months. Doesn't feel comfortable at the moment and doesn't want to be touched.
Typical head for the breed, but the muzzle could have been a bit shorter in my opinion.
Good top-and underlining. Good body. Good tailset and carriage. Shows a nice butt.
Well proportioned body. Fitting bone. Good feet. Good coat. Moves well.
Qualified with a 'good' because of behaviour.

    And some pics:

After the growling on the table (no pics of that, sorry ;))

    Dissappointed handler/owner/mommy..

Trying to make the best of it..

Something that did go well.. Moving.. no running this time

I'm glad the judge took the time to write a judge report, because I'm very happy with his comments.. :)

  • Oh dear Tillo must of been having a grumpy day Janneke :(
Very dissapointing for you but as you say the judges notes are realy good. Probably waiting for 5 hours didn't help his mood

  • Sorry to hear about the outcome. He looks great and, yes he must have had a bad day..that happens..
The write up is nice and that is good..

  • This judge was at our B Speciality this year and last year (not to judge, but to help in the ring, I think he judged two years ago, but I didn't have Tillo then :D) so he knows Tillo can behave.. ;)

And yes.. Mirtillo probably had a bad day.. or week.. or month.. He has been to the vet two weeks ago and he got a cortico-injection in his back that hurt him.. (my baby cried.. Lycia didn't ;) (They both had KC)) So, maybe that was the problem..

We'll just have to train a bit more with standing on the table and being touched. Looking at the teeth isn't the problem, Tillo just doesn't like to be touched on his back and between the legs without seeing who's touching him

  • I'm not surprised Tillo likes to know who is touching him between the legs, i'm sure i would feel the same :D :D

    Gggg.. yeah.. me too… :D

Maybe it's better to bring a statement from a vet that the dog has both his testicles.. saves a lot of growling

  • It is that time of year, also. The males get a little more…'testosteroni' in the fall.

I have to say, I love the judge's comment "shows a nice butt" ....great visual ;)

Good point about the fall… Last year it was also in November....

And in Dutch it is 'mooi kontje', which is the cutest way to say 'nice behind' :D

  • Sorry but he sure looks nice in the pictures.

Congratulations to all of the dogs and your daughters, sounds like they had a wonderful time. Good size entries too! My Rufus was a little 'B' when he was in puppy (still can be if he feels like it) we entertained everybody with his antics, it does get better!

Bath brag…. ha ha. I am not sure where my head was, but I thought I would be seeing Maya lounging in a nice bubble bath with candles around her! Congratulations to both you and Maya - good work!

Congrats on the win Beck! It is always cool for a puppy to win big their first time out.. but Peeps shoulda kicked her butt! I think that Becky is well aware of testing and what is involved. Her Jolly was a performance star and his life was cut short to Fanconi Syndrome. She knows all too well how Fanconi can suck the life out of a basenji. The test was a godsend, and those of us that have lived it, will use the test in and out, backwards and forwards… as it is too serious of an issue to breed against it with wishful or unrealistic thinking. But, there is always a good side to things.... as we type, Benny, Jolly, Data, and Nate.... some true great ones... are all running free, stalking bunnies... and having their girls....

My favorite kind of pooch is a happy, tired, snuggly one, so yes. That and one who is up for a game of tag (when I am not pooped)
