Iron Hound, Day 1 LGRA Results

    There is a huge basenji entry this weekend in the NCWC Iron Hound event. 13 competing for the title of Iron Hound and 16 basenji running in LGRA today. I'll have to look up registered names later but here are the results.

    he checked out fine at the vet... said while unusual, it's not unheard of for shelter dogs to have pee anxiety/adjustment issues for the first month and since he is otherwise fine to just give it a few more weeks. he really peed in the park on a pile of leaves yesterday afternoon for the first time and was praised so loudly everyone else around me was laughing... but then peed on the rug in my apartment lobby again this morning. at least he's not too shy to pee in front of my anymore and thank goodness i live in a very pet friendly building! :rolling_on_the_floor_laughing: so we'll keep working on it! and anyone else ever adopts a basenji mix from the shelter and also has this issue you'll know you're not the only one!

    Grr, my computer is usually naughty about Picasa and I can't see the pictures, the page is just blank. Will have to open up the laptop or go upstairs and use another computer later. I can tell you now the Schnauzer was mine Rita. lol Well not really mine, but my project for the time being.

    Hi All, Would love to brag about my Rocky,UKC Champion Kiroja Chicago Hood at Jaroufa,SGRC,ORC He got 5 pts over the week-end at the PHAST NOTRA meet and is currently #1 NOTRA Basenji for the year with 19.5 pts. In two weeks we go to regain his #1 spot in LGRA.I'm trying to make him the first basenji in history to hold the #1 spot in both LGRA/NOTRA. Rocky is a SUPERDOG! Lightning fast and a momma's boy.     In general, they leave them alone. It is when they have to wait in the boxes because of some delay that they usually get bored enough to try to get them off. In that race there was one basenji that had no box training and really fought the boxes which delayed the race long enough for Levi to wrestle his muzzle off. I do have one basenji who fusses with her muzzle during a race but she is getting better about it and actually won 2 races this weekend even with the fussing. We are going to take the suggestion of a Visla owner and start giving her canned cheese when she wears the muzzle and doesn't fuss to reinforce the muzzle is a good thing. The fuzzy lure was a huge reinforcement but she has some negative associations with the muzzle that we have to work on overcoming.
