Dog Park

  • My husband & I took Trinity & Denver to the Bark Park yesterday - a first for all four of us! Trinity had a super time, while Denver was a little lazy, maybe overwhelmed, but it sure didn't take all that long for him to decide it was necessary to mount a black lab! Ummm…I'm glad the owner wasn't in any way offended - he laughed it off, & although I was a bit embarrassed, it was hilarious to see our little B trying to get on the big black lab. :D So, we started out in the small dog area & when everybody cleared out of the big dog area, we went in there. Enter the black lab & then 2 German shorthaired pointers. After those 2 came barreling down the hill, it was on - Trinity wouldn't stop chasing them & they were non-stop! Haha! Then I witnessed Denver half lift his leg & sprinkle on a tree trunk as he walked by it - his 1st marked territory piddle! I was afraid the fencing wasn't tall enough, and it really probably isn't, but I think these 2 were too preoccupied to notice. I love watching them! They were so well-behaved & Denver even put his paw on a stranger's leg while the man was sitting on a bench! I took a few photos before my camera battery died.

  • Looks like they had fun. Nice looking dog park.

  • Houston

That looks so nice. The dogs had a blast I bet..I have yet to go to a dog park. I am waiting for the heat to go away before I venture out to one…

  • Haha, love the last pic of the worn out dog. Must of been great fun.

  • Great pics, i wish we had dog parks in England.
Love the worn out Basenji pic

  • Which dog park did you go too? I live in Columbus, Ohio area. There are several good parks. I usually go to the dog park at Alum creek state park. Once Cody gets his staples out I want to take him to the dog park. If you live close enough maybe we could have a play date.

  • Thank you for pictures look like a day of fun.

  • Thanks for the comments. :) It was a lot of fun - I'm not sure who had more fun - us or the dogs!

GenJMar - this park is called the Bark Park - part of Osborn Park in Huron - Columbus is app. 2 hrs south of where I live & the park is another 30-ish minutes north. It's part of a preserve & is surrounded by lots of cool trails inside & out of the woods. It's the closet park to me - I've been told there's a really nice one in Rocky River (near Cleveland). It would be fun to meet up somewhere - I'm sure there are some very nice parks around Columbus. Let me know when Cody is ready to party! I'm so glad to hear he is clearly doing so much better!
If you're interested, a few of us have discussed meeting up at LARK in Oberlin for LGRA at the end of August - a couple of hrs from Columbus - I'll be there for sure.

  • I looked up the dates for LGRA in August in Oberlin and I will on vacation that week in NC. I would like to meet up with you for a play date one weekend. Cody gets his staples out on Tues. (yeah) So after that I would be free most weekends until Aug 20. If you have suggestions on dog parks to go to let me know.

@Kipawa: How nice to see Ayo really having a fun time. Didn't you feel proud of him while he was playing? When I am at the dog park with Kipawa, I have this permanent grin on my face. It's so important for dogs to learn to socialize well with other dogs. And for the times I have been at the dog park with Kipawa, I am finding that the dogs at the park are all pretty balanced. We do see some dogs being walked outside of the fenced area. I can only assume that these dogs are not well socialized, or their owners don't want them to get sand on them, or that they are not 100% healthy. I am so glad it worked out well for the both of you. I bet you will both be there fairly frequently now? And isn't it great when they sleep so soundly afterwards? :) I was so proud, I know what you mean, it's a great feeling like you did something right!.. Yeah, all the dogs were ok, there was one dog that kept crawling under his owner and when the other dogs would go up to him, he would growl, but then someone told her to get up and leave him alone, and the minute she did that he started running around and playing with all the other dogs.. Most of the dogs where about the same size too, except for a big German sheaperd that came in after.. There were some guys with pit bulls or pit bull looking dogs outside that were pretty scary, I later found out that they fight them, which I think is horrible and I am so glad they didnt come in. I would never let my dog or any children or anyone near those dogs.

Looks like he is doing great at the dog park and with the other dogs - nice pictures, all of them! Gotta love the lhasa in the bright red coat - aren't we all thrilled we don't have to keep up with hair like that?!?

I sure hopes she remembers us, we will see if we can maybe meet at the dogpark, although we are about 1+ hours away, both of us..it would make for a good trip. Otis and Dotty ended up becoming real good friends and I think my pack is missing her..she did put a spin on things.. I could finally put all three of my bathroom waste baskets back on the floor..;):D

Is it a Youtube video? You can copy their "embed code" from the Youtube site and paste it into the thread. But I did see you have to have rich-text disabled. Not sure where that is when you post. http://www.google.com/support/youtube/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=57788

Yeah, daddy had a lot of those phases too. lol Most of my boys have ended up a bit bigger (well taller) so it was funny to see him look shrimpy next to someone. Especially when I'm used to seeing him next to little Tayda. lol

**hahaa…Its great how they can "say" so much with their expressions!!! ---SO, there was a breakin in miliraty housing one street up from us, and now im kind of glad Jack is aggressive when it comes to strangers....BAD strangers. Makes me feel safer. He sleeps at the top on the stairs next to my room and his bed faces the front door. SO I KNOw when someone strange is coming into the house. Once when i had a family member (jack didnt know) over, they went out all night and tried to sneek in at 3 in the morning and i heard jack growl like ive NEVER heard before. Sounded like he would have killed...I called him to stop and he did, but now i know when a REAL stranger comes in, Jack with at least give me a chance to prepare myself...!!----- Thats one thing Im thankful for with the recent breakins around here...and its unfortunate because ive always felt SO safe in Military housing...But its some group of teenagers that are Navy brats and live here too....yeay, not.**
