    Hi Pat,

I will see her again on Saturday at Blackpool Champ. Show. I will say Hi from you.

    Steve.

  • Poppy has a beautiful head I can't wait to see the rest in the flesh (but have to,unfortunately!!)

Best of luck for Saturday .

Thanks Patty. I will send you a link to some other pictures so you can see some more of her. I have all sorts of old pictures etc. which you may find interesting and I will send link to these too. Are you a Windsor?

If anyone else is interested in pictures of Old Dog Shows in the 80's and Basenjis racing (Greyhound track), let me know and if I have an email for you I will send you a link. I am reticent to post them for general viewing as they still feature some people who are still in the breed.

    Steve

Ps. Forgive me if I call you Patty when we next meet!

    Hi Gerry,

Thanks, Sally is great if anyone wants shot of their dogs look no further.

We seem to be establishing a bit more of a power base down here in the South, maybe we can eventually move some of the clubs shows southwards like they were in my day, who knows!

Noooo no further south please  it's bad enough where they are for us northerners as it is lol

  • She is so adorable.

Sorry to alarm you so! It's just some of the Club Shows used to be around the Maidenhead & Windsor area where many of us lived back then, but they have crept gradually northward as have many of the Champ. Shows.

It also not easy getting anywhere from down here on the South Coast and most journeys involve the London Orbital Car Park AKA the M25. I know there are a lot of you up there in North, so it is probably fair the way it is. It was just an Idea anyway.

    Steve.

  • Hi Steve

I'd like to see the pics etc. You can get my email from my website.

    See you Saturday.

    That's ok ;)
I have a picture of me at a club show when I was about 5 or 6, so about 27 years or so ago and we stayed with Elspet in Windsor so would that have been when they were held further down?

I am not in your area, but ... you should know that dog training is about teaching you how to interact with your dog, as opposed to teaching your dog how to do things. Most area Kennel Clubs offer training where you are your dogs partner in the class. The things you will learn will last your lifetime. I applaud the non-punitive approach. A lot of people fly off the handle when their dog chews on the wrong thing, or doesn't quite have potty training down. One of the best things you can do is give them love when they do it right and don't react when they don't. Recognize that he's just a pup. You can trade an acceptable chew toy for your shoes, and you can avoid the problem by closing the closet door so your pup can't get to your shoes. Accidents will happen and learning to potty doesn't happen overnight. Just provide a lot of verbal love when the pup gets it right and don't react when he doesn't. Love and praise are the best tools in your training bag. Congrats on your pup. Can't wait to hear about all of your adventures!

@elbrant Yes, she's good an patient sometimes, I've been taking pics of her from day 1 so she's used to it, I'm allowed a couple of mins and no more though.
