  • welcome to the group

  • Hi, yes we saw Tilly at the hound show last saturday in Kelso. Lovely. We also come from Scotland, Edinburgh actually. We've our first basenji, Milo who is 4 months old. Will be showing him in June so hopefully he will do okay. We've 2 ridgebacks and had GSDs before them. Downsized with Milo, but not on personality!

Hi Lurkis, its good to see more people from Scotland intending to show. Will have to look out for you & Milo. Seems that its quite common for people with dobes or ridgebacks to downsize to Basenji - and your right about personality - our household doesnt know whats hit it since Tilly arrived.

    Hi and welcome

We will be at WELKS, and we have met before, Congrats on your recent success at NBS.
    (I show the Marzuku B's).

Thanks Moetmum - yes we did have a great day at the Northern Club show - came home loaded down with rosettes cups & trophies - and the bottles of bubbly went down nicely too…

Must admit i like watching your boy in the showring - he seems full of attitude!

Aggression is an all encompassing term. As pointed out above, there is quite a range! It is not unusual for Basenjis to be dog aggressive. Mine is, and I just avoid other dogs because I know his intentions are not good. Some are same sex aggressive and fine with members of the opposite sex, and some may just be making a statement when they are leashed. If you describe what you are seeing more specifically I am sure lots of people will have common experiences and possible training fixes to share. I would love to see some pictures of Tucker, and welcome to the forum!

I live near the mountains in Colorado. There are some great trails with open space all around to let thme run around. Gosh I'm so jealous!! We don't have any plasce we could let our pooches loose. I would love a big open space sans any basenji prey :) that way they'll come back
