Aggression is an all encompassing term. As pointed out above, there is quite a range! It is not unusual for Basenjis to be dog aggressive. Mine is, and I just avoid other dogs because I know his intentions are not good. Some are same sex aggressive and fine with members of the opposite sex, and some may just be making a statement when they are leashed. If you describe what you are seeing more specifically I am sure lots of people will have common experiences and possible training fixes to share. I would love to see some pictures of Tucker, and welcome to the forum!

Hi there :) Morris is from the same litter as Hooligan and our Watson. Nice to know that all three brothers are here on the forum. @Abe: Hello! I have just been watching these forums for the last couple months, but when i saw this post i needed to speak. Hooligan was great; i met him not to long ag. I also got a Basenji from Laura Mae Hesse, My B's name is Morris; i got him a couple months ago from her. He is also almost 2 (turns 2 Thursday!) Laura was very helpful and informative and same with these forums. My experience with Morris so far is, he will chew on anything; wont eat it but just likes to chew on stuff. I have no health problems with him either. All in all i say go for it and get him, his is a beautiful dog, i have had no regrets.

Hi :) Our boy Watson is from Laurel Basenjis in Poynette, WI. Are you active with the Basenji Club of Southeastern WI?

@jinxed_1980: He doesn't like water… do you think nailing him with a water gun or spray bottle would be too mean? Never had a beggar b4 need help lol 90% of basenjis don't like water LOL and many of us use the spray/squirt bottles as training tools. These are considered non evasive training means and if perfectly harmless means. Best to give a verbal correction first of "AT AT" (yes right now he will ignore you) then squirt with the "AT AT", then he'll figure it out that you can just say the "AT AT" and if he ignores you like mine you should only have to just pick up the squirt bottle and he'll stop the naughty behavior. You can use the squirt bottle for just about any naughty behavior too other than begging, but try not to over use, try to use it more as you re-directive means after he is not working with alternate training techniques
