saturday and sunday! early entries are $22 for first dog $15 for 2nd. But, the early entry deadline has passed and I don't see anything listing costs for entering a dog now…

It states on the premium list no day of entries, while it says that they are early entries and they closed on the 6th, they don't say the cost of entries after that… only that there are no day of entries.... I would wonder if they were really not taking entries after the 6th.....

  • yeah, I saw that too.. but then why call it "early" entries… if really that is the only time to enter? Oh well...

Exactly.. that would be my question too….. really confusing... maybe that is how they always do their premiums, but it is really confusing to new people.... and I have seen many a premium in my day...gggg

@beth314 - I think the issue with a Basenji doing Earthdog is that those dogs go underground to seek their prey.... (as in for trials they make tunnels and the prey is in cages at the end).... and that is not an activity that Basenjis really do. They might try to get to the prey by digging on the top of the ground, but going underground I don't think so.

@dana-k actually Dana, I do not believe the trainers say that eventually, they come to like their 'safe place'. Mine now will stay and eat in his crate, when the door is open. If i try to close it, i see the look of a prisoner, and he definitely wants to get away. I would have felt the same, btw. Currently, when i go out i 'crate' him in my salon. Until now, no real damage was done, at least not different from the damage he tries to do (like eat the plants) when i am with him.

Oakley will pee in the middle of the road or anywhere really but pooping is a whole different story…walking is the only way and he seems to do it in the same spots on our walks.. If the wind so much as sways it will deter him... In the cold he just flat out refuses to go! It is a basenji thing

Have you tried a soft crate. I don't know if you can get them in the US, but this is the website I got mine from : http://www.oo.com.au/Collapsible_Pet_Travel_Cage_wi_P37265.cfm . I have two basenjis and they both sleep in it at night and whenever I need to take them on a drive I use this. There are no hard or sharp pieces and the dogs have not been able to chew it to pieces yet (touch wood).

Knipper: Kicked him in the head???:eek::eek: I'd have done more than tear just a stripe out of her. My stomach turns to knots just thinking of someone kicking a dog in the head!:mad: Can't say I blame Blaze at all for growling at her and meaning it. Too bad about kids, though. :( It makes me sad the things folks can do to change a dog's attitude.

@Duke: Just try and convince a trainer that doesn't do the "positive reward" or "treat based" training methods that their methods are not as effective. The guy who installed our underground fence has since gotten into dog training. He tried to sell me his services when I ordered a collar for Daisy last year. When I asked if his training methods were click and treat based, he said "behavior modification". When I tried to discuss the benefits of the positive reinfocement methods that helped me with Duke, he scoffed that dogs should learn without bribery! Well - I ended the chat since I knew we disagreed. And that is when you just "agree" to disagree and know that is one person you will never use…...
