Hello Again!! Missed you All!
-
The Hayes' have been busy bee's the past few weeks! Aiden turned one!! and is walking everywhere making me grow my first grey hair…(not proud of that one) We went back to Ohio to visit family and while we were there we made our final decision about getting a puppy and sent out deposit!!!! We are TOO Excited to see Electra's puppies and take ours home...now we just have to wait for them to arrive...........Nov 11th is the due date and I dont know if I can last that long!! I know it will be a very happy day for the Hayes' when that Baroo is back in our house!!
Sigh.....:D

Who is the sire of the litter?
-
Ill have to find the name, I wrote it down…Ill get back to you!
-
Best of Luck! I hope all goes well with a safe birth. They'll be here before you know it.
-
Oh congrats. I will be anticipating some cute baby pictures here in January
-
Glad to see you back!! And a BIG Happy Birthday to Aiden!!! Hope you and the dh are doing well (is he home or over-seas??).
Congrats on the new pup. Hope all goes well there, too. Bringing home a fur-baby at holiday times is the best!! (except for the early unexpected unwrapping of the presents or the possibility of marking the tree:D But you've "been there, done that":) )

The dam is Ch. Kokopelli's Electra. She finished out of BBE with 3 majors and a BOB. She is the granddaughter of my dear foundation girl Am & Can Ch. Sarita's Krieker of Pibroch who also finished with 3 majors handled by me. Krieker also had multiple wins shown as a veteran. The sire is Ch. Wakan's Sunshine Super Nova. He was specialed and was a top ten basenji for a couple years. His picture is on the Wakan website.
Let me know what you think!!

Hahaa!! Thanks! Geoff is home at the moment, and we are hoping he will stay home thru xmas!! Im kinda missing all the trouble Jack got into…hahaa never thought id say that!
-
I miss the Jack stories here.
Seems the remembered stories still stir the heart, make us cry, most importantly, make us remember. They touched us in many ways.
Welcome Home Geoff. Thank you. For all you do. Dawn

Thank You Snorky!!
I need some help checking if the testing was done on the Dam and Sire for my litter…I went to the site and typed in their show names, but Ive never done it before...so Im lost. THANKS
Also!! If any of you knoe anything about the Sire and Dam let me know what you think THANKS
-
Did you find them on the OFA site? If not, the dam in Fanconi clear and hips OFA good, and for the sire, Fanconi carrier. No Cerfs…

Okay THANKS!! So…I feel silly, is that bad that he is a carrier? Should I be worried about their testing?
-
Since the dam has tested Clear, none of the puppies will be affected. This is a responsible way to breed Carriers so their good genes get passed on without producing puppies that will become sick.
-
All of the pups will be either clear or carrier and will not develop Fanconi.
Rugosa Basenjis explains it pretty clearly, with colorful B heads and all… -
Sire is Probable Carrier, But Dam is Probable Clear. This means that the worst you could get from the pups is Carriers. It is not a bad thing. It WOULD be bad if both were listed as Carrier, or one Carrier and one Effected. I would ask the breeder though about Why Sire was not Hip or CERF and why Dam is not CERF.
-
HAHAHA wow three of us answering at once… Lucky you to have questions when all us loud mouths are online.

Wakan Basenjis are really nice dogs. Before I got my boy from Midge [Seregenti], I thought about getting a pup from them. They had a waiting list of people before they even bred their dogs. I was put on the waiting list but found Midge shortly after so I took my name off. However, I was very impressed by the dogs & also by the breeder. Their webpage is also a great resource for basenji information.

Yes I have checked them out I like them as well!!
