Meet Honey – Basenji mixed with ?

    Adopted Honey from the County shelter a week and a half ago – Basenji mix, but have no idea what the other part might be...

    She seems to be adjusting to her new surroundings pretty well... :)

    I hope to be able to photograph her with the cats, after I convince her they are not "chase toys"... and convince the cats that she will learn to be as nice as the other dogs they have lived with... I hope, I hope, I hope...

    I once had a rat terrier, and she looks like she could have some of that..
    So, maybe??

    @Buddys: Actually, my first B was found running around and was not altered. Always a possibility since the canine need of procreation is pretty darn high up there with food, water, and air…... Oh I'm sure it does happen and will continue to happen but I just don't see it happening as much as rescues claim it happens. I know for a fact some shelters (the one I worked at did!) will label dogs as rarer breeds to get them adopted faster. We had two scruffy "doodle" mix mutts and the animal warden INSISTED they were Wired haired pointing griffons. LOL.

    Wow! That is certainly a fascinating mix! ;-) Two sighthounds and a Spitz in there, so will probably see much the same sorts of behaviour as Bs….I bet she's quite a runner too! Good look with your girl!

    The traits you described are also found in most of the Nordic/spitz type dogs. I don't see anything overly basenji-ish about him in the pics. What ever he is, he's very hansome.

    Look at the BRAT mixes: http://basenjirescue.org/DOGS-MIXES/Default.htm Check out Tia. I think that's what you are looking for. :) Then look at Tyson and Shiloh. Not the right coloring, but similar build and coat….
