You KNOW William has to be wondering why we don't just throw the darned dogs into the stew pot!!
bwahahahaha Because basenjis are too sleek and lean, not enough fat on the little rascals to make good stew, of course!:D
I feel like all I ever talk about here are his problems. I guess because I'm responding to posts about behavior issues.
I need to let you all know that he is a sweetheart, with –I swear -- a sense of humor, he does the cutest things and has such a expressive face he can melt any one of us. He makes us laugh out loud several times a day; he love to be petted, and plays chase the toy games. He's a real love.
MOST of the time, he is a very, very good boy. It's just that when he is naughty, he is naughty with gusto!

It's why many of us love these dogs!
i agree, if my dog wouldnt get into trouble i wouldnt like him as much as i do now. i wouldnt want a perfect dog to be honest lol. hes so clever and funny
When Shadow gets into trouble-as a normal B would- I just think back to the days when he was in such pain that he wouldn't/couldn't get into trouble. With him I welcome the trouble. With the girls, THAT'S another story!
our tri is the same, It's those tri's. Really super naughty. He just wants me to play, rub & train (tricks) him all the time. I swear he's worse than a two year old. I can't talk on the phone very long when he's around. Always stealing stuff from my pockets.
Winter is the worst because we can't go on long walks, it's been freezing here.
That is EXACTLY what this forum is here for. Helping eachother. No where else can you talk with others about similar experiences.
We have all gone through these types of issues. Having a Basenji means never a dull moment in our lives and yes….we are all crazy (but in such a good way)

Just don't show him how to find the forum and he'll never know that he's the reason all the other basenjis and their owners are getting new training ideas.
All kidding aside, don't feel bad, we're all in this together and know that this is the place to vent, question, etc., about our b'kids…

yeah, but Keoki is a red/white boy!! He has tri-brother, so maybe he saw his brother and thinks he must be a tri too? I need to show that dog a mirror!!
Others may not understand but we all know how sweet and funny they can be….even when they have issues.
Apache still terrorizes Marlowe from time to time, I think he enjoys seeing the big dog cower:eek:. As fast as he turns into Psycho dog, he turns back into a playful, loving, sweet little guy.
Yea, my B, Sahara will not hardly let me talk on the phone, house phone or cell when I am with her at night. My hubby works night shift so she has me all to herself, and man is she selfish. I can be on the computer and she asleep on the bed and she will come off like a bolt if the phone rings. I am walking down the hall to the phone with her nipping at my feet, man that hurts. I have done all I know except walk with a water bottle, she had stopped but is at it again. They are like no other dogs that I know of, always looking for attention, it's like having a toddler again, and my son is 24, I thought I was done. haha:eek:
Isn't that amazing… that was soon as you get on the phone... and whatever they are going to get into or bother you with or fight with the others in the house.. .... thank goodness for cordless phones..ggg
Don't worry, JM I never doubted that you adore your pup(s). I spent many a year telling everyone I know, "Have I told you recently NOT to get a dog?" We all love them, but they can be trying sometimes. We're all here to listen to the good, the bad and the sometimes, ugly….
Hang in there.
