Kentucky Puppy B-mix in DANGER

  • Just got this email from BRAT about what sounds like a SWEET b-mix puppy. If I could I would go get him but I just cant do it now. His story made me cry. Hopefully someone close can rescue this poor baby.
    ** DOG IN DANGER **
due to be euthanised on Friday, February 8
There is the sweetest looking basenji mix boy in Kentucky, and he is running out of time.
He is in Shepherdsville, KY at the Bullitt County Animal Control phone is 502-543-8686 contact person is Nancy Barnes NancyBarnes@windstream.net
This is his write-up from Dogsindanger.com
" This sweet little guy was picked sitting on the side of a busy road. He appeared to be waiting for his owner to return to get him. Little do these poor souls realize the owners never come back. He is a very sweet little boy that needs a safe place to call home. He is about 3 months old and already knows how to sit. He will be neutered and UTD on shots before going to his forever home."
You can see his page at: http://www.dogsindanger.com/dog.jsp?did=1201831920242
    or I can send pictures.
Contact the shelter, and myself, IMMEDIATELY if interested in this dog. By adopting or fostering this boy you are truly saving his life. A reasonable distance transport could possibly be arranged if you are wanting to adopt or foster but are out of state. Let me know.

  • I so hope some one can go get him and at least foster him until he is into his forever home.

  • Me too!!!!! I would LOVE to foster a dog but with the newest addition we got from BRAT I just dont think he would do well with another dog at this point.

  • Wow…I don't see any B...but all pit-bull. Cute though....hope someone can help him.

  • REally? You dont think the markings and tail are B like?

Not really… but still cute... I would not say Basenji...

Well…lots of dogs have white in the same places as Bs...defintiely pitties. And the tail...lots of pits have tails that curve towards the back. IMO, not enough signs of a B to qualifiy him as a B-mix.

I don't see Basenji; never would have occurred to me to list it that way.
BUT, it is an adorable pup and I hope it finds a good forever home ASAP.

I called the shelter at 4:35 p.m. EST today-Friday and they were still available. Perhaps the shelter which is open on Saturday will adopt more out then it will take in! The shelter is located SE of Louisville, KY-about 100 miles, SW of Lexington, KY-about 100 miles and NE of Nashville, TN-about 130 miles. The shelter is open 11 a.m.-5 p.m. CST, Tuesday-Saturday. I would try to find a vet that is interested in learning about B's or know's about B's. It took me a while to find a vet that would listen to ME and not the average shoot em up/shove it down mentality. Try a warm bath for the BM. As for the frontline and intercept they should be able to be held off. I don't use flea med-my B's don't tend to get fleas. If it's for the heart worm only wait a few days til she feels better and then give it to her if you need to use it where you are. I know here we only use it til November. If you want a basic food, as Sharon said-chicken and rice is the easiest on the tummy. You may want to make your own for the moment-boiled chicken and rice. Arlene
