Basenji/blue heeler needs trail runner parent

Basenjis For Sale or Wanted
  • I'm involved in australian cattle dog rescue, and I pulled a basenji/blue heeler off death row Sept.10,2007. She is VERY basenji. Approx.1 yr old, definitely no older than 2. No signs of Fanconis. 39 lbs. I've gotten her all healthy, spayed, microchipped, and trained as a reiki II healer, and now I'm trying to find her the perfect home. Home should be: non-smoker, non-drug user (ever), responsible, financially stable, basenji lover, trail runner, who works from home, is retired, or similar situation where someone is with her almost all of the time, no cats, no kids, no dogs where she could get all the love and attention, lives in environment similar to Lake Tahoe, where she is living with me, where she could go running in nature every day. She's a very sweet girl, but she pulls lots of shananigans like t.p.ing the house and eating paper when she is bored though I think this could be solved or curtailed if she was able to go on a long run every day. She must be on-leash outside due to her high hunting drive. Definitely needs a basenji lover and a runner. Looking for her perfect match where she will be loved as a daughter. Contact me if you think you might be the perfect fit for little Shiloh. Thanks~

@buzz-carmenator I have sent everyone who mailed me a list of Breed Clubs in the UK with their secretaries email addresses and also that of the Basenji Rescue co-ordinator. BUT - people who want a puppy are advised to read a great deal up about them, including the fact that, in the Northern Hemisphere, at least 95% of litters are born November / December ish. So puppies are unlikely to be available until late February next year at the earliest. Basenji ladies are once-a-year girls, coming into season September / October ish for the most part. Several of the people I have referred to individual breeders have already visited with them and, if considered suitable, have been put on lists for the next litter. However some people have decided that, on closer inspection, a Basenji is not for them and others have visits pending. Have a good read of all the articles, including the Zande Put-Off on my website (see signature block) and then email me privately.

@jodymp another post you sent stated you were in Yorkshire... so, are you looking for a pup in Europe? Do you have a specific region, or a distance range where you are focusing your search?

Glad things are settling down for you. Now is a great time to get on breeders puppy lists. Go to the Basenji Club and contact breeders in states close enough for traveling to. If you're interested in a bit older, be sure to ask if they have any or know of another breeder who may have gotten a puppy back that didn't work out. Good luck in your search.
