Which is why I check everything with the AKC website and why I like registered names. His number there is HP446055/02. Mom is also AKC registered.

Very interesting pictures! They're all in action! Welcome to the Forums. Also, I like your new camera - mine is on the "blink". What brand of camera do you have, if you don't mind my asking - I need a new one.

Al & Ruth Jelinek In Chicago.
Out tri is very naughty, more typical dog like where the Red's lineage is her great grandmother is one of the imports from Africa in the 70's. She's a very effecient bunny & bird killer. The Tri does not know how to kill and either plays with things to death or gets bitten up really bad by squirrels he catches.

I knew it was one of those states… and yes they are great people, have met them at dogs shows a few times...

They trained us humans as well. Spent a lot of time in dog training & showing with them. My son did Jr Showmanship with our male. He would get close to first and just before judging he would act

You really see the difference in our dogs. The tri is more domesticated -like, as a Basenji can be, but the African lineage female is text book basenji.
Me posing with Balto in Central Park, which I just stumbled on.

Domesticated Tri male, likes to play Fetch, not so afraid of water, does not know how to kill or hunt, Not really aloof with strangers. Follows me around everywhere, very closely (tripping over him). likes to ride on the end of our kyak on a lake.
Female basenji w/African lineage- Hates water with a passion. Will not go anywhere near a boat on water. Instinctively hunt & kills with precision, like watching a wild animal hunt. Instinctivley seems to know to bite the head/off/throat to kill it, quickly. Loves to climb. Will not go near any stranger, very cautious. Will not follow you around. She could care less.
No interest in fetch, but loves to rip apart plush like plucking the feathers off a chicken. She is just what you would expect if I had a pet skunk or other tamed wild animal, that's more her to a tee.The Tri color is my buddy dog, he enjoys being with people directly. He comes when called, he's more like a typical dog. Plays fetch.
Throw the ball or what ever for the female, she runs after it, grabs it, goes to another room to dismember it. He returns for more play
it could be just different personalities, but the when the Red female hunts, it's not coming out of experience. A switch is flipped in her. The males does not have a clue! The female catches adult birds as the fly up from the ground. Kills them with one bite. She's as close to wild as anything I have seen.

I find most "males" don't have a clue… gggg... in fact I tell people that are looking for pups when they ask about males and bitches that the Bitches have an agenda and the males don't have a clue...
Mine have no new Af (from the 80's that was the first of the new afs that were accepted into the AKC stud books when BCOA petitioned them)... and my girls hunt like crazy.... None of mine play fetch... all hate water, and with the exception of Mickii, they are aloof to strangers... (but not when people visit my house, which is how I expect them to act...) My Maggii grabs squirrels out of the apple tree, breaks their necks in one snap.... My boy... he runs out to see what the scream was with "duh whats happen??"So I think it is really your Boys nature to be different... ..

Domesticated Tri male, likes to play Fetch
I have a domestic that won't play fetch and my one Af male will.
not so afraid of water, does not know how to kill or hunt
I have a domestic that hates water and brings all kinds of dead stuff to me, just small.
Not really aloof with strangers
Yeah mine are like that, but I've seen domestics that are aloof.
Follows me around everywhere, very closely (tripping over him).
I have one just like that, and sits in the bathroom while I shower. They all love my wet towel.:D
Hates water with a passion. Will not go anywhere near a boat on water.
I had my Af out fishing and the dumb $#% jumped in the river. We had a lead and harness on him so it was ok.:D
Instinctively hunt & kills with precision, like watching a wild animal hunt. Instinctivley seems to know to bite the head/off/throat to kill it, quickly.
I have a AF pair, male and female that I've seen kill rabbits, I would totally agree.
My domestic can kill and hunt, like I said….smaller stuff. Will not go near any stranger, very cautious
One yes, the other no.
Will not follow you around. She could care less
I can't sit in a chair near any of my Basenji's without them being on me. My Af female would follow me around if I'd let her.
.No interest in fetch, but loves to rip apart plush like plucking the feathers off a chicken.
I've seen that in both, they can go through some stuffed toys.

I see a difference in ours too, but as I've been around more and more B's I come to find that they do share most of the same qualities and habits, some to a lesser degree.
I do think the Af's are very independent and seem just a little different.
I've also come to the conclusion all of them can be very different personalities:) .
