As long as the cat keeps well out of the dog's way ! Most learn to do that pretty soon after the Basenji arrives - I have seen a Basenji shaking a cat, much like you would a feather duster.

@lindy said in Fostering a pup that looks like Basenji: [image: 1499893567189-img_2774.jpg] His height is 20". That's too big, right? Yes, too big. Should be 16 - 17" at the shoulder. Possibly a mix, but only a DNA test will tell you for sure.

Amen to that! A bored basenji is very creative in its destructiveness, although the dog only thinks he's having fun.

Hi, welcome. Do you have any photos of Tom to share, we all like photos. Lot's of great information here on the forum and helpful people if you have any questions about the breed. My dog Kaiser(10 months) went through his second puppy stage at around 7-8 months and did a little destruction mainly his poor toys but is overall turning out to be a good dog. My best advice would be if you see a bad habit starting stop it as soon as possible other wise it could be a losing battle. Enjoy your pup. Jolanda and Kaiser
