All pups have been placed as responsible breeders have reservation lists. We are not at this time planning a litter for 2020 or 2021. I would be happy to talk to you about Basenjis. You can search for responsible breeders at www.basenji.org by state, however as far as I know all responsible breeders on the West Coast already have full reservation lists. You would be looking at litters possible in 2021. This is the time to connect with a responsible breeder and get on their reservation lists for 2021. And if you are looking for a dog that is hypoallergenic, Basenjis do shed and have dander so they are not really hypoallergenic. While they can do well with people with allergies, you need to spend time with them and more than one time. Be sure that you check out health testing yourself, regardless of what you might be advised. Tests for DNA testing is public knowledge at www.ofa.org. You need to have either a registration number or name to check this out for yourself to verify. I suggest all people looking for a Basenji, even my own, do this.

Are you looking for a rescue to take into the home? Or just a playmate? Try rescue or contact breeders as some are looking to re-home ex-show dogs that they are not going to use in their breeding program and looking to place in great homes.

What sort of games ?

Any. I've been on all the BRAT, Medfly, Golden opportunity lists, have called 31 breeders in the southwest to find a young male to adopt. Despite lots of walks, this spayed girl needs a boyfriend to keep her company, as my 18 yr old mix is not interested. J

@janenpete Help us help you....
First: Understand that "most" of this seasons puppies are (more than likely) already spoken for. You might find an older dog who could be placed with you, but a puppy could be a year away.
Second: I (personally) wasted a lot of time online "hunting" for a Basenji, only to become frustrated. Try looking locally. Many breeders and dog enthusiasts become members at the local "Kennel Club". Contact them and ask if they have any members that own or breed Basenji's. Or, if they have anyone that "shows" Basenji's at the Club's Dog Show.
Third: Saying you want a pup is great, but if no one knows where you are.... connecting with the right person may never happen. So, tell us where you are, please.

@elbrant - Elbrant, she is in AZ and she is not looking for a puppy, young adult male. In her post she notes that she has gone the route of rescue and breeders with no luck as of yet. Note she said that she contacted over 31 breeders.... As I told her, it takes time. Also I advised her that Medfly is no longer doing rescue as Karen has retired.

I don't see anything about Arizona, not that it matters. It's just a reminder that listing a location helps connect your want/need to (hopefully) someone who has what you are looking for (within a reasonable distance). If my advice doesn't help this particular person, it may help someone else in a similar situation.
