    After a two year span of not having a dog or dogs, I have done much research to find a certain type of breed that matches what I am looking for and the Basenji fits it perfectly! I will pick up our new little boy in latter January. I am glad I have found this site with such good questions and answers, I can just read all day long (until the puppy gets here!). I look forward to being a part of the Basenji community!

    Where are you getting your pup from? Any pictures yet?

    I had to place a email into the administrator for my post to show. I really like this site, I hope it works better.

    To answer your question: I'm getting my puppy from Mata Hauri Basenji in about three weeks. I have been able to watch the puppies grow on facebook. They post videos every week for us to see.

    Many of her dogs are related to my C-Me and Franie in the pedigree, I have been watching them grow also

    Since Buster is a rescue, I would highly suggest that you have DNA Fanconi testing done. It is a cheek swab that you do yourself. You can order the test at www.offa.org for 65.00. Money well spent for peace of mind and know your Basenji's status. Scroll down till you get to Fanconi DNA https://secure.offa.org/cart.html

    @Nicola: Hi Jenny! :D Oh what a shame. :( I was undecided on posting about SKC on the other site, I wish I had done now! Not to worry, we'll meet someday, I'm sure! And of course, I'd love to meet your gang too. I remember hearing someone saying "….Basenji cross" as I was walking by! Who'd have thought it was you! ;) Yes that was probably me lol. Roxy looked very sweet and I'm sure we will meet eventually:D

    @dunappy: Hie all I'm from New Mexico. I currently have two basenji neutered males named George and Ice Man. I lost my female (their mother) this past weekend at the ripe old age of nearly 17. She was born Dec 19th, 1991 and passed away last Friday Oct 12th, 2007. George and Ice Man are both almost 15 having been born Dec 13th, 1993 and both are still healthy and going strong at the moment. however I know here in the next few years I'm going to be without them and I'm starting to look for a young one to bring in. I lost my first basenji female last year after 16 years very hard. I now have 2 a female and a male. Its been fun they are both from the same litter and my son got a male at the sametime.
