    We have our Basenji mix on Solid Gold, Sundancer. It is newer, and it is chicken based, no grains, no by products. I don't know if anyone else has tried it yet but it is her all time favorite (she prefers chicken over beef) but she seems a lot better all around on Solid Gold. We also give her their treats! If anyone is looking for a good dry food and has chicken loving Basenjis I recommend it!

    We have fed Solid Gold before. We think it was the Barking at the moon version. Its great food but like most of the good foods its more expensive.

And doodle will grab it up before I have any idea it's there! I wish I had a picture of the day she pulled a (whole) bagel out of a bush!

    Xylitol = Birch Sugar?

    Not sure how Xylitol is being marketed. It is an alcohol found in a lot of plants, including birch wood, which is the source of Xylitol used in medicines. And it is toxic to dogs, even in small amounts. Most of the time you find it in sugarless gum and candy.     I know this topic is old, but I give my B freeze dried salmon bites as treats. I usually find them in the cat section

    8 mos old is still on Royal Canine medium size puppy as recommended by vet. Very interested in how you change up their food. Glad to hear that because I would like to change him from chicken based to something else as adult. Had always been advised not to keep changing food as it was hard on their system. Breeder advised to use high protein and fat dog food (60% protein, 30% fat). What is your opinion on this? I am starting to add 1/2 tsp coconut oil daily to dog food for winter feeding. Advised it had ingredients similar to mother's milk. What say you about this?

    i'm torn, they all seem like good foods! i'm getting samples of solid gold and wellness, and i have a small bad of merrick. so i'll let diego decide! thanks everyone!
