Hi - newbie alert!

  • Ah, remove from breeding makes sense (I suppose..) Butu was an accidental breeding, and was sold as such. He had the loveliest brindle sister. He will be spayed in the next couple of months (the vet wants to wait until he's a bit bigger…) As far as I can measure...(chewing the tape...) he is 13" at the moment - do Bs put on a growth spurt, and, if so - how old?

Hi, both our breeders advised us to wait untill the Dogs were at least over a year old before neuter/spaying.

Ask the breeder how big the sire and dam are. That's a good idea. My first basenji, who was a champion, weighed nearly 26 pounds when she matured. My 2nd one would have been about that, but thanks to steroids, we did good to keep her at 30. My current rescue is a giant. We won't go there. I first dreamed of a SMALL dog, maybe 15 pounds tops after years of being a BIG DOG person (rottweilers and chows). I don't see that ever happening.

LOL, a couple of weeks ago Cara began boofing for no apparent reason. MOST the time it's a dog outside and she wants dogs (oh and thunder) to know only she gets to make noise. It took me a couple of days to pinpoint it. I had started playing a new game, Gardens of Time, and when you change scenes, it sounds like a bark (My child insists it's a wooshing sound of the time machine but obviously Cara and I both disagree). LOL she has finally stopped though.
