@zande - I also have crates in the SUV, they are always in their crates when riding, no exceptions.
Cricket's here!

We drove down to Drumheller to pick up our little girl today. The ride back was great! We settled her in for the three hour drive in a soft bed with a blanket and two chew toys. I sat next to her anticipating the calming mom duty. I wasn't needed at all. The entire time we drove, she slept. When we stopped, she happily went potty, then fell asleep again.
We've had one accident inside when we ignored her scratching on the window, since we've learned she tells us, no accidents!
She's currently passed out between us on the couch. I didn't realize how much puppies sleep!
It feels really good to have a basenji in the house again!
I hope to find my camera cord tomorrow to share photos -
Awww, congrats.

I have to tell you that half-sibs from last years litter were also litter trained upong arriving at my house!
Hope and Dora should be coming tomorrow.. or next weekend (depending on the flights).
I am glad you like Cricket!!
Momma Sugar is a love… and passes that on to her kids! -
Congratulations! I'm counting the days to my own puppy's arrival:)

So happy for you…congratulations...yes, pictures would be great..hint, hint.

I am in shock at how much of a sweetheart she is. We put her at the foot of our bed on her towel. Now she knows that on the bed, she has to stay on her towel… so when she woke me up at 1:15 to go potty, imagine my surprise with the migration of her towel, right up to our pillows.
We go out, she goes potty, then scampers in ahead of me. I lifted her up onto the foot of the bed, and she goes straight to her towel, which now covers half of my pillow. I moved her down a bit, but it was in the same place this morning. I enjoyed waking up to fritos and puppy breath. Husband was pretty snuggled in with her too. -
Being a recent basenji owner/mom, I know the wonder and happiness of those first few days. I can tell you it gets better.
Kipawa sleeps heavily, and so I set an alarm for 3:30 a.m. and I get him up for a pee. He knows exactly what we are doing and like Cricket, runs back to the bed ahead of me after business is done. This week, the clock gets moved to 4:00 a.m. - we're gradually increasing the time Kipawa holds himself.
Congrats on the new addition to your family.

I am real happy to know that Cricket is behaving so nicely for you. She had been very good with her toileting for the past week, so with some minor adjustments should be fine. We miss her here and Sugar searched for her for about an hour after she left. I will be watching for pictures and perhaps even a visit in the summer when the travel conditions are a bit more reliable.

Cricket sounds such a good little girl. I love her name too.

Bedtime? We had our first vet appointment today and she was so inquisitive without whining. Several people commented on how well behaved she was. I told them it was all you Bob! Road trips are our specialty! She handles car rides so well, just zonks right out! I think we will have to travel more so a visit is definately in order!

Cute photos! Love the wrinkles! and the name!:)

She is massively adorable! They grow so fast, so enjoy her baby puppy time. And more pics please!

Thanks for the pictures. Glad to know that she is fitting in. Perhaps we should have called her "Angel". Then again the spirit of her inner Basenji is still rising!

yes, it is longer than she is, and yes, it has already saved so much! -
I was able to access the first group of pictures with no problems. However, the above photo wants me to sign into my Yahoo account and then choose a Flickr screen name. Anyone else with the same problem?

If it doesn't work, it's her chewing on a huge bully stick.
