Amazing isn't it….. where are the breeders of these pups??? And this is when you start to hear and see these "teen" Basenjis being given away or sold... because people were never properly screened or told about Basenjis.... The teen years with a Basenji can many times be harder then when they are baby puppies....

I wonder how many of these dogs are still intact if they were sold to be pets.
There are a number of BYBs in TX or he could have come from a petstore.

The post was deleted. Did anyone contact them?

I didn't contact them but I did notify BRAT so hopefully they, not a buyer, got to them.

I feel a bit hurt when so many seem to think that BRAT is the only acceptable option and some how a buyer is wrong for a dog. Some of us bought our dogs from craigslist and petfinder and have given our dogs loving homes. BRAT doesn't approve everyone and BRAT charges substantially more money because they have to cover the cost for all the dogs they rescue. If a dog can go straight from one owner or a shelter into a loving home, isn't that better for the dog than having him be transported many miles and perhaps going to many homes before he gets to a temporary foster home where he will live until he is uprooted for a final time to his forever home.
It may better if BRAT and the other rescues can aquire a dog before it goes to a shelter but if there is a buyer that can give the dog a loving home, that buyer is better than the rescues. IMO

I hope they found a better home for him.
