Caesar is an incredibly outgoing and happy dog. He was tossed aside by an owner that went through girlfriends and the new GF didn't want the dog around. Then on to a home where partying was more important than the dog. Caesar just wants to be your companion. He does great with all our girl dogs and the toy dog. He is loose in the house all day long, but is also leash- and crate-trained. He has lived with cats and done fine with them.. he learns quick and isn't want to antagonize them!

    Caesar is a stunner..

  • I am interested in your beautiful dog! Is relocating this dog to Wisconsin possible? I have no dogs at this time. I just fostered a tri colored basenji that was moving from Chicago to Florida. Fell in love with the breed. My sister also has a 7 yr old R/W and 2 tri colors so I am familiar with the dogs. I'd love to add one to my household :)

  • Oh my, he's a gorgeous looking dude! He deserves a good home, and hopefully he will finally get one.

  • Meant to post last week…
Caesar is in a new forever home... forever!

UDDATE: When it came to the point handing him over to a new family, my family insisted to continue caring for him after realizing how beloved a family member he is. (Also consider this thread was started on impulse in reaction to my employment situation.) My travel situation got postponed so I've had a few extra weeks to train/transition the duty over to them. Logan is in very loving and capable hands. Thank you everybody for the concern and honest advice!

Thank you so much for your advice. We just e-mailed a member of the bcosw. :) basenjimamma, Thank you for that :) We had thought of that, as we have researched quite a bit, and are going to definitely make sure that no one is allergic before we take one home.

I would look at the BCOA site for reputable breeders in your area, but don't be quick to rule out others. A lot of good breeders have all their puppies spoken for by now, so that will make your search much harder. But keep looking and don't be afraid to contact folks from all over. The most important thing is to find a good breeder that you can work with personally, and one who does significant health testing, including the new DNA marker for fanconi. A happy healthy puppy and supportive relationship with a breeder are priceless! I do know some folks will ship, but the best thing to do is go out and get the dog. You will probably want to meet the breeder and litter, and they will want to meet you. That way you can get a better feel for each other and both still have an "out" if things don't seem right. For about the same price as shipping a dog, you can get a plane ticket yourself to get them. It usually only costs about $50 or so to add the dog in cabin on your return trip. And then you are in complete control the whole time of what is happening to your puppy. Also sometimes breeders that live outside your area still have ways to make transportation arrangements. You can always check. They know other breeders that live between you two and can meet up with them at shows or events to get the puppy closer to it's new home, or within a reasonable driving distance of you. My first dog came from Georgia, but I only had to go to KY to get him. :)

FWIW, they never contacted me or I could have helped them out. After a single post though they may not even be on the forum anymore.
